Delicious dumplings. Great vegan options. Authentic Chinese in Hawthorn. The vegetable dumplings were delicious. The rice cakes were amazing. And Ive never had the bamboo shoots before, but they were also delicious. Highly recommended.
Wide ranging menu with lots to attract and reasonable prices ($4.80 for a vegetable soup that was almost two rice bowls large). Some things not seen anywhere like braised bamboo shoots (which we had, and it was a generous and tasty plate indeed). Dumplings were really very good – plump, with a chewy bite to the wrapper, carefully drained for plating so extra tasty and also extra ready to soak up the vinegar or chilli oil, tender yet bitey filling that was full of flavour. We took note of the sign advertising frozen takeaway dumplings (15 pcs for $10). Fried sichuan rice noodle also good – chewy cakes of rice noodle and a savory sauce just the right side of salty , the minimum amount of oil that one could hope to expect in a restaurant fried noodle dish. Overall planning to come back because the kitchen obviously knows what theyre doing , there are lots of vegetarian options on the menu, and the prices are very fair. It may be that the owner was handling the front of house tonight also , which may account for that particular air of serious attentiveness toward customer care. Maybe we were just lucky tonight , or maybe this place actually appreciates their customers. Well have to come back and see.
