Really love this place, great selection of wines for fussy hubby and lovely cheese/pate plates too. really like how you can bring take away in to eat while you drink. Fantastic atmosphere, lovely owner.
We have been in hawthorn all our lives and only last week and stumbbeled across this little gem. Im glad we did thats for sure, because this is one local that i appreciate having. Been back twice in one week!! Cheap corkage, the cheese we were served was beautiful. Really nice place
I stumbled across Gibson’s Wine Bar just driving home. It looked like a relaxing atmosphere and because of my love for wine I came back to check it out. This was 3yrs ago, and I’ve never looked back!
Inside you’ll see a very laid back and chilled atmosphere. There’s one worker looking after the place and he/she will give you a wine glass. There’s a huge Australian wine cellar section at the back where you pick which bottle of wine you want. There’s a price on it, a $3 surcharge on top per bottle and off you go!
Now here’s the very special part about Gibson’s, you bring your own takeaway to eat while enjoying the wine there. They have brochure’s there which allow you to order food from restaurants around them, and some restaurants will even deliver to the bar for you. I find this to be such a wonderful concept because they are helping local businesses around them. Gibson’s will supply you with bowls and cutlery, even serviettes to use with your meal. Gibson’s also sell some smaller items there such a cheese and olives, really good if you’re not after a full meal.
This is a great place to bring some friends to chat, relax and drink some wine. The staff there is always accomodating and friendly. They’ll always greet you with a smile and more than happy to have a chat about wine or other topics if you wish. Next time you’re around the area, pay Gibson’s Wine Bar a visit, I’m sure you’ll enjoy it as much as I have through the years!

What a find this place was! Perfect example of what hospitality is all about and that it’s not rocket science.
Took some interstate family members there last Friday night based on previous reviews and did not disappoint!
Warm, friendly, professional guys who know how to make you feel right at home.
No table available at first but we selected a bottle and took a seat at bar for maybe 10 minutes. We also noticed other diners with pizza which Gibson’s are totally ok with you ordering in. In fact they provided us with plates and serviettes. WOW we were blown away with how easy they made it for us . We ordered 2 pizzas from Cantina del Nonna opposite (also perfect) then sat at our table in heaven for an hour or two. I have not shut up about this place all weekend. Thanks Gibson’s.

I know Monday is a slow night but declining to serve us so they could shut at 8 is not very nice.

Unnecessary force. This bar has no duty of care when they continually fill the drink of an elderly man and then push him out, cracking his head on the pavement and having a heart attack.. Shame on you.
