I used to frequent Haddons while I was a student at Swinburne and was always impressed by how easily they could remember my name and order. Service was really fast too.
Could be so much better with a bit of effort
Haddens is located in the centre of Swinburne University and has a steady stream of customers.
The service is very friendly and helpful.
The coffee however is very average (not bad .. but not good either).
The food is fresh but nothing special.
This place could be amazing with a bit of attention paid to quality rather than speed of service.

Great little cafe on campus at Swinburne Universty!Staff are fantastic, especially the owner who seems to remember everyone order. The raspberry and white chocolate friand is a must, and their proscuitto and rocket sandwiches on crusty bread are a great snack. While not a speciality coffee, it is rich and robust in flavour.
There are even beers in the fridge if you need a pick me up at the end of a particularly long day. 😉
My only complaint is that as it’s in the middle of campus, a lot of academic staff get ‘funny’ if the staff don’t reserve tables for them during the break between lectures. This puts them in a difficult position because the staff ‘expect’ and I’ve noticed students can get really attitude-y when they ask them politely not to sit where the reserved signs are.
Still I visit often because staff, food and coffee are great for a quick pick me up!

For what it is, my experience with Haddons so far has been great! Right inside Swinburne uni, it has standard cafe food (pies, cakes, sandwhiches) in the fridge, and coffee. I was pleasantly surprise by the coffee! Only $3 for a small (soy too) and although it’s no specialty coffee it’s decent and will give you a pick up if you’re studying late. Will be back!
Arguably the best place to grab coffee and a bite within the Swinburne Hawthorn vicinity!
Staff are always lovely- 90% chance that the barista will remember your name and order if you come more than once.
Service is great, prompt and proper.
