Came here for the first time a few weeks ago with friends after getting off the train at glenferrie. We ordered the mix platter and a lamb hsp. The owner is very friendly and service was good. The meat was more on the dry side and chips were slightly soggy.

    Not bad overall!

WOW. Went to this place today for a HSP, please save your $10 and go to Maccas down the road.
I never leave reviews but I was so disappointed, I had to warn others.

I ordered a mixed HSP just thinking about the succulent combo of chicken and lamb and what I received instead was incredibly dry, tasteless meat. I honestly could have ate cardboard and it would have tasted the same.

The greatest thing about HSP’s are when they are loaded with chili and garlic sauces but this HSP had less sauce on it than when I used to draw Australia on my 4N20 pies when I was 10. Like seriously, if you’re going to serve cardboard at least drench it in something tasty.

Last but not least the chippies. OH LORD, the chippies. I saw old mate (who was a friendly chap) check the temperature as he took them from their holding cell and after realising they were colder than the other side of the pillow he proceeded to put them in the microwave for 30 seconds.
Microwave + Chippies = Soggy chippies.

The best HSP’s I’ve had have been hot and saucey with fresh chips to give it that crunch. These were bland, sauceless, lukewarm and soggy.

If the owners see this please consider reviewing your HSP making process to something more fresh in the future.

This joint has great service, they were able to quickly provide me with my order and was quick to get my HSP done.. However, there were no propersignage when it came to showing customers that there was HSP in store. There wasn’t enough sauce provided upon my order whilst the lamb within my meal wasn’t Halal (It was hard and chewy. The cheese used in my HSP was also not the correct cheese used, as they used some sort of shredded coon cheese, whilst the correct cheese that should’ve been used is shredded mozzarella! The chips however were too thick and weren’t crunchy, as they tasted and felt stale. The staff were nice, although they did not get my tick of an approval of holding the Halal certificate because they did not mention once that I was their brother! The kebabs however weren’t folded correctly as they started to fall apart whilst the meat were seperated from the vegetables and therefore forced the consumer to take a big bite (in which isn’t very delightful and enjoyable). Although they are fast at making my meals, their HSP weren’t the greatest.

Been coming here for years, always have had great service and good quality kebabs and pide. Recently they have also added HSP’s to their menu, grabbed one last week and it was pretty decent 🙂

When was the last time you had a kebab (or souvlaki) anywhere in Melbourne where the filling was decent and the traditional pita size was used? I can tell you that it has been a long time for me, as the majority of kebabs sold in this city have fallen behind standard, and prices have inflated far too much (and too quickly) over the past 10 years.Thankfully, we have KEBABJI in Hawthorn to fill the space left by other restaurants-bringing back that warm contented feeling to a grumbly stomach that’s aching for juicy lamb goodness. Just look at the photos in the profile. A LARGE lamb or chicken kebab (and I mean the traditional large variety with the large pita bread-not the eency weeny sizes they are dishing out today) will set you back $8.50. The last time I purchased one of these sizes from one of the few famous outlets in the city (and at this price) would have been 20 years ago. I am passionate about my kababs & souvlakia because I grew up on them, and Tom (the owner) has too. Tom and his staff will greet you with all smiles and with mouth-watering suggestions (if you care to ask)-so avail yourself of the expertise behind the counter. I am impressed with the fresh ingredients and offerings on the menu, especially the humble pide breads and the sweets on available.
Whenever I am in Glenferrie, I always drop in for a decent meal and a quick hello to the boys. You should too, and I am absolutely certain, that you will not be disappointed. Thanks for bringing back the good times guys, 4.5/5 from me.P.S. I can feed my partner and myself for $25 here (and I’m a big eater) so I don’t believe the average meal price of $35 (for 2) is accurate. Cheers.

I have been here a few times, some days are good other days are bad. One worker has great customer service and the others are poor. Kebabs are average but as i said they have consistency issues so they can be good.
