This one has been sitting in my draft for a while, thought it was time to post it.
Sardi is a cozy cafe with friendly staff but disappointing service. The service was extremely hands off with no interaction except at the very start. While I generally do prefer a hands off service, a sentence or two worth of interraction after the food was served would have been great.
Our order
White Coffee- loved the coffee and the coffee art. Can’t say I have seen art like that in other Melbourne cafes.
Cacao Kicker- super delicious and very filling on its own. Would highly recommend this drink.
Bombay eggs- this one was a fairly decent dish till my mouth was filled with silk hair like that from clothes. I was honestly surprised at just how many of those were in the food.
Banana bread french toast- the above story repeated with the banana bread too. We didn’t finish either of the two dishes.
Roasted pumpkin fritters- While I wasn’t eating hair in the pumpkin fritters, this dish was dissatisfying for other reasons. It was extremely dry and over-priced. I wasn’t a fan of this dish at all.
Overall, given the competition in the area, there are bettee options to choose from.
We were invited to try out Sardi for lunch and it was quite the experience! Heres what we had!
Fish tacos – this came with beer battered fish, pickled slaw, salsa and aioli! I am generally not a fan of tacos but I must admit this has got me wanting to try more! The fish was deep fried and was very light and went very well with the salsa and aioli! The pickled slaw was a good choice as it gave the dish more color and taste!
Peanut butter pancakes – you heard right! Triple stack chocolate buttermilk pancakes accompanied with a big chunk of peanut butter, maple syrup sauce, ice cream, Reeses peanut butter cup and fresh berries – this was a dish suited for a sweet king like me! Be warned that it was very sweet but just right for me! I thoroughly enjoyed the melting sensation of each flavor making it my favorite for the day!
Eggs benedict – poached eggs on sourdough with pulled pork and apple cider hollandaise! Though it looks simple, do not be pulled by the complexity of the taste! The pulled pork was one of the best Ive had to date with it being soft and juicy! How they did it, Ive no clue but I loved it! The juiciness of the pulled pork sipping through my mouth followed by the creaminess of the hollandaise just made it that much better!
Overall, we had a great time at Sardi and would visit them again to try the rest of their dishes! I am aiming for their french toast next!
I havent been to Sardi for a long time but I was really hankering for their creamy mushroom medley dish. Unfortunately the menu has changed and that dish wasnt available anymore, however fortunately, there was another mushroom dish and so all was good in the world. I found my dish to be packed full of flavour, however I didnt enjoy the polenta soldiers as much. I highly recommend adding in salmon as I felt it complimented the dish really well. My partners eggs Benedict was all you could ask for in a Benedict dish, so no complaints on his end. We also ordered chai lattes that were very rich and spicy, just the way we like it. Will be back to try their other options.
Although the selection of vegan options here is good, I felt that most of them weren’t as well executed as I was expecting. Their waffles were excellent but the porridge was rather bland, and I felt presentation was a bit lacking. I wasn’t blown away by the avo toast either although it was nice. The chai smoothie was a bit disappointing but the coffee is good. The staff was friendly but not as attentive as I would’ve liked. The location is cute though, the building is quite old and has a bit of a rustic feel to it. (free meal)
We were invited to Sardi today, a tiny cafe but it sure does have a long and exciting menu. I started with a mango coconut smoothie which was very tropical and while I almost went for the Oreo waffles I ended up with the banana bread French toast.
This was an excellent choice. While my initial bite was burnt (the edges) the majority of the dish was moist and delicious and I absolutely loved the brle banana with it. I was kind of annoyed by the excessive amounts of herbs on top though, I firmly believe these have no place on any brunch dish particularly sweet ones. Hubby got vegetarian chilli folded eggs which certainly looked impressive for a savoury menu item.
The main event for me was supposed to be the peanut butter pancakes that I had seen plastered all over Instagram and my main motivation for attending today but they didnt quite measure up to expectations. The peanut butter itself tasted exactly like it was applied atop the pancakes directly from a jar of Kraft and it didnt quite work with the sweetness of the chocolate pancakes.
The sweet potato fries with avo looked good but we were too bursting to even consider it. I will say the dishes are generous serves (befitting the price point)

I had the superfood breakfast bowl which was fairly bland but I guess this is a healthy brunch spot and you can’t expect too much from a dish that is primarily made from kale and asparagus. Wish I’d gone for the hot cakes or even the porridge.
**3.5. stars** This cafe has a simple, modern and clean interior to it. The ambience in turn is warm and cozy, and the service is prompt. We found the food to be above average and served in a decent portion.
We were invited along to Sardi to experience their new spring menu. Browsing through their menu we decided on the Sauted Wild Mushrooms and the Chilli Folded Eggs. Both dishes were full of flavour. Reluctantly sharing a bite from each others dish was difficult, as both were so good. If you love peanut butter and pancakes, the Peanut Butter Pancakes is a must try. A wonderfully presented dish, with the smell of peanut butter, layered through each pancake was lovely. Coffee beans are supplied by Humble Harry Roasting Co, and the barista does these beans justice.
The Sauted Wild Mushrooms with added poached eggs and bacon had great flavours and was a pretty dish. Lovely flavours from each of the mushroom varieties. The eggs were cooked well.
The Chilli Folded Eggs was a colourful dish. There was a nice bit of heat from the chilli and it worked well with the other ingredients.
The Peanut Butter Pancakes were wonderfully presented. The smell of sweet peanuts layered through each pancake was sooo delicious.
Each of the dishes not only photographed well, but they also tasted even better!
