Spice lounge is the place to go when you’re strapped for cash, craving authentic India food and hungry af.
Their portion size is humongous and you’ll definitely leave with a food coma. Friendly service with a somewhat lacking ambiance – bring cash!
Nice food..friendly staff…u might think at first that limited thali will not be enough…but the quantity they serve is more than enough fir 1.
Best part….u get fresh naans…not the ones u get at coles. Overall a good experience…
A bit disappointing, there were too many items on the menu that they had ‘run out of’ or couldn’t do, the food that we did eventually order was good but terrible service
We went to Spice Lounge during the week and the food was nice. The food wasn’t too spicy and it had a lot of flavours. The service was pretty good which made the night very enjoyable.
Awful service .. the waiter didn’t even understand English also has zero knowledge about waitering .
Food is very average. If you pass on it you’d have to regrets
I mostly have the veg thali or the egg fried rice and always fall in love with them. The quality and taste of the food is great! Ambience is good, but my focus only falls on the food 🙂 . Great food.
Who went – An Indian family of 3
Time – Lunch
Damages – $42.50 (quite cheap!)
Ambience – 3/5
Service – 5/5
Order
Masala Dosa – 5/5 – Absolutely amazing. The dosa was crispy & the masala tasty. It was served with amazing sambhar, coconut chutney & gun powder. One of the best dosa I had in Melbourne.
Butter chicken – 3/5 – It was a little too sweet & the gravy very runny. Otherwise the flavours were okay and edible. Portion size was enough for 2 people to share.
Chicken Tikka Masala – 3.5/5 – Better than the butter one but still could have been done better. Portion was enough for 2 people to share.
Plain naan – 3/5 – Felt more like roti, nothing special.
Garlic Naan – 3/5 – Big chunks of garlic on the plain naan. Again could have been much better.
Plain dosa – 3/5 – Since we were awed by the masala dosa we decided to order a plain one in the end. The restaurant had more people by this time & there was only one chef. We had to wait a while & in his rush the chef didn’t do justice to the dosa. It was very average, not crispy 🙁
Verdict- certainly worth going once but maybe in the evening when there are more chef! Not to mention the place serves really cheap food.
