Don’t resist the resistance! They have great burgers and fries at reasonable prices, in a killer location and very friendly staff. The burger was asbsolutely yummy, well assembled, the bun the righ size, so tender and briochey. Flavoursome well cooked meat. I had the simpler burger and I was impressed.
Why not 5 stars? Because it took ages for a simple burger to come to my place even though I was the only customer waiting. And because, to me, the place lacks a bit of glam.

The beef burgers are out of this world! Juicy, meaty and very very reasonably priced – my favorite in Melbourne. Special shout out to their homemade brioche buns that are toasted to perfection.

The overall ambience is very chilled out, with shisha, bean bags and rasta-inspired art all over the walls. They also do regular events, like stand up comedy and slam poetry nights. extra points for the friendly (and hilarious) staff. Much love guys!

I like a good burger, or two lol

So it was time to visit the resistance in Hawthorn! This place is in a walkway between Glenferrie Road and Hawthorn train station.

This place was busy as it was a free comedy night so the service was a little slow. But when the burgers and chips arrived all was forgiven.

I tried a hot chicken burger was amazing!! Just delicious, ams full of crispy fried chicken, Yummo lol

Then I tried a plain Resistance junior burger which was also good but the winner was the BBQ bacon cheeseburger packed with some crispy bacon, pineapple and other tasty ingredients! Perfect!

All the ingredients are made in house, Mmnn not sure about the pineapple hahaha but the buns are the rest of the food is.

Oh and the chips were fantastic, hot from the first one the last one and they had a great spice. I am starting to get hungry again just thinking about this place hahahaha

This place is definitely worth a visit!

This place took me by surprise. Situated down the side alley access to Glenferrie Station (along with several other cafes/bars), The Resistance doesn’t look much from the outside – predominantly open to the elements with a couple of high tables and stools for diners. There’s a semi subterranean bar area and chill out lounge at the back (evening use) but the ‘kitchen’ is upstairs and the place to order your food- which is essentially burgers along with sodas, milk shakes and fries. The La Resistance burger ($13.50) was one of the best burgers I’ve ever had – so full of flavours that it left me gluttonously wanting more! But with a combo of fries and 7 Up (lunchtime special of $5), no way did I have room for it. Excellent – and leaves Huxtaburger on the other side of the Glenferrie Road standing.

Such a cool vibe at this burger joint and bar!
Not only can you get some of the best burgs in town here at The Resistance, but you can also chill out with a few drinks or even a shisha!

I had the Chilli Cheese Beef Burger, with added bacon, egg and chicken fillet. It was a massive unit and every element of the burger was well executed! The fried chicken was perfectly cooked and super crispy.

We were also lucky enough to try the Nashville Style Hot Chicken Burger which had not been officially released on the menu yet. Proceed with caution!! This is some seriously hot stuff! If you love your spicy food, then this is your jam! Highly recommended

These burgers were washed down with a couple of deliciously thick shakes as well as a serve of bacon’d cheesy loaded fries.

Love this place and will be back soon!!

The Resistance is a cosy burger bar tucked away in the laneway connecting Glenferrie Station to Glenferrie Road.

We had the BBQ bacon cheese burger, pollo Escobar burger, beer battered fries and loaded chicken bites to eat. Everything we ordered was cooked well and tasted great, I especially loved how the bacon in each of the burgers was crispy and added a nice crunch. Unlike a lot of other burgers these werent messy to eat, there was enough sauce to add flavour to the burger, but not enough to make the bun soggy or leak when you bite into it.

To drink we ordered the choc peanut butter and Oreo thickshakes. The shakes were delicious, we may have struggled to finish all of our food but we made sure to finish the thickshakes. I highly recommend you order a shake to go along with your burger.

The Resistance is a great little hidden gem that I recommend you check out if youre in the area. Overall I give them out of 5. Thanks very much for having me.

Lizzies first impression: situated on the busy strips of Hawthorn station – this place is so convenient to get to. The staff are exceptionally nice and lovely.

Lizzie enjoyed: I absolutely loved my fried chicken burger – it had the perfect amount of Siracha mayo sauce and the chicken was so tender and juicy. I also loved the beef burger – it was everything I wanted in a burger. The fries were cooked perfectly (as good as schnitz chips) and the burgers are a big generous size. I also enjoyed my peanut butter milkshake.

Lizzie did not enjoy: really cant fault anything apart from the fact that I over ordered and probably ate until my arteries were blocked.

Lizzie rates overall: I love this place and its definitely underrated – best burgers Ive had in the surburbs and Id love to come back for more!
