I came here for Christmas drinks with my work colleagues and as we were here more for the drinks then the food, we decided to order from the Chichetti (bar snacks) menu so that we could partake in more drinking.
This turned out to be an excellent idea as we managed to indulge in a Spritz each followed by 2 more bottles of wine, and a few glasses here and there. The Veneziano Vaperol Spritz that I had was deliciously refreshing and citrusy, a very summery drink.
All of the dishes that we ordered were delicious in one way or another, but the two that stood out for me had to be the chargrilled prawns and chips. The prawns were so fresh, I could taste a subtle sweetness to it. The chips were absolutely moreish, and each chip was as crunchy as the last. It was so good that we ordered 2 more bowls of chips. The arancini also hit the spot – gooey inside and crisped on the outside.
The service was attentive and friendly throughout. Recommendations for food and wine were helpfully provided, and each request was met with promptly.
Wow can not believe we have not tried Vaperetto until now! From the entry door to the interior you are swept to a venue somewhere in Italy . Super friendly/attentive/helpful staff from entry to exit Very comprehensive drinks list and a food menu that will have you salivating as you peruse. We had the risotto special w calamari, gf gnocchi w lamb ragu , the rigatoni special and the tortellini. All were faultless and plates licked clean. Vaperetto have specials through out the week such as $1 oysters Wednesday nights !
You can book and I would suggest you do that on Friday/Saturday nights. We took our chances after the movies at Lido and it was definitely worth the wait!! New favorite definitely

Brilliant little Italian resteraunt in the alleyway in hawthorn!
Aperol blood orange Sicilian version was unreal, reminded me of Italy
Entrees were lovely, fried little seafood medley and fig, prosciutto and cheese salad were unreal
Duck meatball spaghetti and swimmer crab pasta were both really really tasty aswell!
Service was fantastic, well priced to!

Superb cocktails and their desserts are one of the best I have had. Their gnocchi is my go to dish for the ultimate comfort food. Cute for casual date/ dine.

FINALLY! A restaurant that knows how pasta should be cooked. Al dente, with generous serving portions, the pasta is a real winner at Vaporetto. I tried the spaghetti with duck meatballs, which was sublime. Quite rich, but that’s the nature of duck. I just loved that slight chew on the spaghetti. My wife ate the gnocchi ragu, which looked fantastic. I can’t eat mushrooms, so I didn’t try it, but my wife was silent for a while, which means she was into her meal haha. We also ordered the arancini. Wow. My wife is Sicilian and she says it’s the best she’s had, other than those made my her mum of course. I agree. The rice was nice and soft, cheesy and the outside crunch was spot on, golden, not oily, just perfect. Topped off with Spritz (one of our favourite things from Venice) with friendly attentive service, this was a perfect meal. The prices aren’t ‘cheap’ but they’re fair, with generous servings. It’s shameful that we live so close to Vaporetto and have only just visited, but we’ll be back again soon!
Lucky to go with a good friend of the chef. We were very well looked after. Great attentive staff. Very tasty food in a lively restaurant. Pretty good wine list. Definitely recommend
