Ned Kelly, $6, steak with egg, ok flavour.
Choc chilli beef, $7.5, good spicy flavour.
Snickerdoodle berry tart, $4.5, berries leaked liquid like they were thawed and watery. Flavour ok.
This restaurant is inspired by an old country town bakery but with popularity, size and expansion it’s list the charm and quality is ok but not the same as hand made style. It is very large and great for groups and families. Has some outdoor seating too.
A beautiful looking and extensive bakery located in the picturesque Healesville; Beechworth Bakery is full of people and queues. Where it falls down is the counter service. They gave us extra items we didnt ask for and charged us for them. Staff were inattentive at times and had to go back to the counter several times to ask for Sundry items. Food was palatable; definitely not the best tasting. Drinks all fine though.
Stopped by on the way back to Melbourne and picked up a coffee, ham and cheese croissant and a snickerdoodle. The coffee was alright, not sure what brand they use but it’s got quite a bold flavour. The ham and cheese croissant was tasty with lots of ham and gooey melted cheese. The snickerdoodle would have been better with fresh rather than frozen berries and a bit more custard, but was still good.
As bakeries go this one is on steroids as are the others around Victoria. Its the place to bring groups as here at good toilets (outside at the rear) and is disabled friendly plus plenty of parking.
However it lacks ambience and that something special that most Healesville places have. Its big. It deals with with volume. But there is no character or charm. The fake fires kinda sum it up for me. Seating inside and out.
High chairs available. Good spot to bring kids as its quite spacious.
Dont get me wrong, food is consistently good band the staff are lovely but take it for what it is.
Traveling down to Healesville an hours drive to get there pie (Ned kelly). This pie is one of the most juicy most delicious pie I ever tasted and would definitely be back to grab it anytime Im close.
