  The Highett RSL is bustling even on week day afternoons. They do a nice lunch menu with smaller servings with cheaper prices. I wanted the roast of the day from the lunch menu but was misunderstood and got the normal main roast of the day instead. It was pork roast with steamed vegetables and chips. The pork was tender and had a nice flavour but the vegetables were plain steamed and chips were frozen chips. The gravy was quite tasty. For $22 though I thought it was overpriced. I like how you can get your own breadrolls and butter. Service takes awhile so you have to be patient.

  We are members and regular diners at the Highett RSL for many years. We meet regularly with a group friends and they are also members.

  When we first went to Highett RSL the food were excellent. Good bistro food. For the last year or so I found their standard drop and I thought with patience their meals will come back to their former glory. I am disappointed with their meals and my experiences are:

  Soups are often too salty.

  Roast Pork usually this is a good choice provided you choose to have gravy on the side otherwise your dinner is swimming with salty gravy. The crackling was good. The roast pork that Iordered was very chewy. The meal was salty, chewy and inedible.

  Chicken Cacciatore was very salty. Chef needs to taste what they are cooking before adding salt and more salt.

  Chicken Schnitzel is processed chicken fillet which looked dry and mummified.

  Chicken Parmigina is nice and moist with what seemed to be real chicken fillet.

  Garlic Prawns I ordered this meal a few times and each and every time after eating my mouth is very dry and need to drink lots of water.

  Atlantic Salmon cooked well and is usually good choice if you like salmon

  Lamb and Rosemary sausages with mash potato this humble dish usually is nice and I had this a few times and is ususally good.

  Staff are excellent and deliver their services in a professional manner.

  Members Benefits and Rewards

  The monthly promotions of members rewards at the back of the calendar been upgraded to the new modern technology. Any operating administration system needs to be user friendly and not clumsy. Promotions appeared after the available date. Bar staff are not told about the offer and availability. The newly introduced download the Highett RSL application is not working and becoming an embarrassment for the club and staff.

  If you look around the RSL members they are elderly and most of them are not used to this sophisticated download application technology on mobile. If you have to print on the back of the calendar to advise member to check their mobile of their next promotion. It is just as easy to put the benefits and rewards on the calendar or on their Highett RSL website under Member Benefits and Rewards. This is a misuse of new technology. Planet Earth Calling.

  WOW- An absolute Favourite!. Just WOW- what a great venue! The bistro is absolutely fantastic epecially, great service and the food is always delicious, portion sizes very generous and the meals are GREAT value in general! Highly recommended to all! A great night out!

  Nice surprise. Went Saturday night without a booking. Restaurant booked out but nice young girl told us we were welcome to sit at another table outside the dining room, all good. Very large menu, pub food. They had a curry special with a number of different curries for around $15. I had whiting, chips and salad for around $20. Other meals observed looked a very good size and nicely presented. The whole area is very clean and nicely set out. Perfect area for people who like a Saturday afternoon punt, lots of TV screens and small TAB
