Great for the price! Just had to give 5 stars. I love local businesses! I have tried many different meals here – such a hidden gem. Food is clearly fresh as it is made for your own order.

Update: came back today and must say that the teriyaki chicken is one of the best

Pretty much the best sushi you will get in the area! I’ve had sushi here many times and ordered a sushi platter from here for an event and it was fresh and yummy. I’ve had the beef bimbbap and the beef was pretty fatty and average but generally good.

Yummy! Pretty good Japanese hidden away in a suburban shopping centre. Have only tried take away but always been pleased. They do have various lunch specials. Have tried several bentos and always great. Udon good. Sukiyaki beef noodle – the beef was a bit fatty and chewy. Hand rolls and salads fresh and delicious. Prices average. Friendly service. Recommend.

Not Japanese….. Now appears to be staffed by people who make liberal use of the microwave, and are not Japanese.
Tried the Sukiyakidon and it tasted of nothing but overcooked carrot. The ebi tempura don was overcooked and the texture was soft.

Eggs are cheap, how about adding this traditional ingredient a little more liberally?

We need a good donburi restaurant in this area, and right now Sushi Hinode is not it.

Worst take away. I ordered three items here this afternoon, one shop staff guy couldn’t remember what I ordered, so he asked me to circle menu items on take away menu paper. I ordered fried rice which was recommended comment below and Nigiri + Futomaki, and Crunch roll.
I saw the guy mentioned above spilt some fried rice before he put the lids on and smiled to other staff while I was watching it. And the crunch roll which should contain Salmon, avo, fish roe, mayo and tempura crumb came without fish roe and tempura crumb. Nigri + Futomaki pack had same rolls as Crunch.
I complained about crunch which didn’t follow what menu says. One of shop staff lady excused me that’s what they usually do.
    Give me a break!!
If you can’t make what menu says, don’t put on menu!
I wish the lady was just lazy to make two roll. So she make just one big roll and put one into my nigiri and roll pack and gave me rest of half as Crunch.
Whatever, this place is the worst take away I’ve ever visit.
There’re lots more better place in city and eastern suburb.
I really feel sorry for the people who think this place is good to have some Japanese fast food.
As I’m a Japanese and proud of japanese food, I never recommend this place. It was my first time in life, I chuck those above foods in a bin without tasting.

Love the garlic chicken rice!! So full of flavour. And such fantastic staff too. Great place!

God sent Hinode to the West. I struggled to find authentic Japanese food after moving to the West. I was so happy when I discovered this eatery. The owner and chef is Japanese. The Sashimi is fresh and generously cut. My son loves the Tempura prawns – cheapest you can find in Melbourne – $7.50 for 5 prawns. I recently fell in love with their Bento sets. We also cannot get enough of the Udon soup. Talking about them makes my mouth water !
