The first thing that stands out when you go to Docasa is the service!! All staff are so friendly and helpful- every single one of them.
The interior is beautiful, its lovely to sit near the window but if you cant get a spot dont worry there isnt a bad seat in the house!
Hotcakes are a definite stand out and can you believe they taste better than they look? That lemon curd- I wanted to container it up and take it home :). Hotcakes are on the breakfast menu and are available until 12.00pm. The zucchini fritters were crunchy and delicious and similar to those Ive had at fine dining restaurants (dont share- they are that good).
It just ticks all the boxes for me and I give Docasa 5 stars.

Docasa is located on Lower Heidelberg Road in Ivanhoe. It has a great corner spot with lots of light pouring in the large windows. The interior is light filled with high ceilings & bench seats wrapped around the sides.

The menu has a strong Italian influence with a range of dishes from breakfast meals to share plates & mains. At this stage breakfast is only served until 12pm although they are looking to extend this over the weekends which I feel is a good idea.

We started with the Zucchini Flowers which were filled with herbed Meredith goats cheese & served with saffron aioli. This was a stunning dish, beautifully presented & absolutely delicious. The batter was light so the zucchini flowers were the main focus. This was a share plate but a generous serving as the goats cheese made them very rich & filling.

The Pan-Fried Gnocchi was such a vibrant dish. Served with prawns, lemon, garlic, chilli, pancetta, cherry tomatoes & cannellini beans, it was full of flavour & colour. The fresh gnocchi was divine & the prawns were cooked perfectly. I find that gnocchi dishes can be quite heavy but this was light & fresh & we both loved it.

We finished with the Ricotta Hotcakes, served with lemon curd, freeze dried raspberries, meringue shards, pistachio crumble & vanilla mascarpone. This dish was also beautifully presented & the flavours were amazing.

A little gem in Ivanhoe, with some fantastic dishes, I loved the Italian flavours & will have to go back to try more. Thanks so much for having us.

While I only tried the coffee here, I was grateful they opened at 7.30am so I could escape the Melbourne weather! All staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Coffee was great, made to perfection. The interior is stunning – instagram worthy! Ill be going back in 2 weeks to try the food and I cant wait!

3.7. Very nice fit out. Friendly staff. I said I was in a hurry and they brought the meal out quickly for me. The meal was a lime avocado smash with poached eggs. The meal was great. Its not a huge menu here but theres more than enough choice for me. There is a huge range of cakes as well. I liked the place and would definitely return.

Lovely lay out and a really strong menu doesnt translate to strong output. The coffee is very middle of the road, a lot of local options are better.
The food just misses the mark- gnocchi with prawns, duck cigars, arancini, meatballs all great ideas that were bland and missing the wow.

Great decor and presentation. Well prepared and presented food. Upper end cafe but in saying that it’s not anything necessarily new. Good coffee and service was adequate. Would visit again. Great potential for a more interesting selection and maybe some specials at some point. A little more imagination wouldn’t go astray. 3 meatballs at $17 a bit rich and overall we thought it was overpriced. It’s probably a 3.5 star, not a 4

    4.5 really!
A beautiful cafe/ restaurant in Ivanhoe with a beautiful light, bright, airy feel. The interior is lovely with lots of white and some greenery giving it a nice ambience.
We started with a coffee and hot chocolate both of which impressed. The coffee had a good, well rounded flavour which was a good start.
We then shared the Sausage Hot Pot which came with crunchy bread and was a nice start. A hot pot with loads of sausage, capsicum, onion, cherry tomatoes and a Napoli sauce.
The goats cheese and zucchini blintzes really stole the show though. A unique dish and very satisfying. Think savoury crepes served on a quinoa and cauliflower salad. Its not a huge dish, but it had great flavours and I would go back just to eat a few more serves of this. Delish!
We ended with the delicious lemon curd hotcakes which come with freeze dried strawberries, pistachio nuts, meringue crumble and mascarpone. A great dish for the hotcake fans.
Theyre also licensed so if you want to have a glass of Prosecco with your brunch, you can. Win!
    Thanks for having us!
