I visited this Ivanhoe cafe recently for brunch. The breakfast burger was absolute perfection, with slow cooked smoked pork shoulder, egg, hash brown, bacon, and kicking bbq sauce. It was so good!
The smashed peas was also a nice dish, and vegan as well, with cashew and tofu ricotta. The beetroot crisps added a nice crunchy aspect.
The peanut butter and Nutella milkshake was absolutely divine too, loved it!
If you like matcha then the matcha panna is the dish for you, you will love it! The pink muesli was a sweet and delicious accompaniment.

Mr Peebles is such a charming cafe in Ivanhoe! I went to Mr Peebles with a friend for breakfast for the first time a couple of weeks ago. We started off with coffees which were really lovely, and hot (as I requested)! I had a tea later as well, and loved the little tea menu on each table – so many different options to choose from! We ordered three meals between us. First off, the Eggs Royale – such a delicious dish – I loved the cauliflower hollandaise – something a bit different and was less rich than usual hollandaise. Poached eggs were perfect and the asparagus and smoked salmon combination was a match made in heaven. Next was the Mr Hash. In a word, YUM!! This was probably my favourite. The peas, hash and chorizo worked so well together! Our third dish was the Smoke and Salad. We asked Scott to surprise us, and we were super happy with what he chose! I would never usually think of smoked eggplant or chickpeas at breakfast time, so it was great to have something different and unexpected! The best part of it were the little fried eggplant pieces scattered on top. Yumm!!! Would highly recommend a trip to Mr Peebles. Thankyou for having us, we cant wait to come back!!!
Saturday breakfast needs were greatly satisfied at Mr Peebles. We decided to sit outside this fresh morning and we do not regret it. If you are a four-legged lover you will love the parade of puppies. We sure as loved it.
We love the small, homey vibe style of this cafe. Service is very friendly and prompt and it appears that this little gem is a favorite amongst the locals for their morning coffee.
And for good reason; our long black was delicious; well-bodied; rich aroma; single origin flavour on point.
We settled with three dishes here; the Eggs Royal on charcoal toast with asparagus; the Chicken Burger with an extra beef patty (don’t judge us because it was 8 am) and the Matcha Pannacotta.
Every single dish that came to the table was simply delicious. We loved the chunks of smoked salmon under some perfectly poached eggs and asparagus all sitting on a beautifully toasted slice of charcoal toast. It goes to say that food that is cooked well, we’ll always be all time classic.
The burger was our favorite here. The chicken was crispy yet tender and juicy on the inside, the beef patty juicy, the cheese, the sauce; just a combination that was heavenly and yum.
The matcha pannacotta was yummy too. We were expecting something sweeter than it was delivered but this dish is actually super healthy and super delicious. Served on some delicious mango puree and toasted nuts and fresh fruit, this plate of happiness was inhaled immediately.
The service is really friendly here. We cannot wait to return.
Mr Peebles is located on Lower Heidelberg Road in Ivanhoe. The interior is warm & welcoming with exposed brick walls & wooden floorboards & some seating out the front to soak up the sunshine.
We started with coffees & ordered a few dishes to share & drinks. The Re-energise smoothie was delicious & fruity, with mixed berries, beetroot, coconut yoghurt, pineapple & ginger. The Peanutella shake was rich & decadent, a meal in itself & the perfect mix of peanut & Nutella goodness.
Muesli chewsdays was such a pretty dish, pink muesli, matcha pannacotta & berries. It had just the right amount of wobble & we really enjoyed it.
The superfood salad was my favourite, a tasty & fresh mix of veggies, seeds & nuts topped with 5 spice crispy tofu. Great combination of flavours in this dish & lots of colour.
The smoke & salad was made up of cauliflower, chickpeas, fried eggplant, dukkah, smoked eggplant labne on a toasted pita. While we enjoyed the flavours, we found the dish a little dry.
From the burger menu we tried the roast mushie burger. This was a winner with a big field mushroom, grilled halloumi & smoked eggplant labne.
The service was fast & friendly and we really enjoyed trying a variety of dishes, thanks so much for having us in.
It’s so nice to take a trip out north, and find a quaint cafe doing great coffee and food.
Coffee is sourced from Veneziano, with both espresso and cold stop options. Try the cold drip for a refreshing post breakfast pick me up.
The Muesli is a must, with its Matcha Panna Cotta.
Had an absolute incredible experience at Mr Peebles with friendly staff and amazing variety of food. Started with coffee and hot chocolate and honestly was one of the best Ive ve had! Peanutella is a must if youre a PB fan. The chicken burger was to die for and i loved the Eggs Royale with the unique charcoal waffle. If youre after a mixture of food, this place got you covered! Thanks for having us, cannot wait to come back.
