Excellent, unassuming, authentic local Vietnamese. Noodles, rice paper rolls, pork and chicken rolls all excellent. Memories of eating in Vietnam. Highly recommended.
Ordered the chicken egg noodle soup, special rice paper rolls and spring rolls. Missed out on the RPR they didnt add it to my order. They had a lot of trouble understanding when I explained to them they had forgotten something. Taste and value wise, very average and soup servings are minuscule for $12! If you want better value go to Streat pho in Fairfield or High st Northcote. If you want authentic go to Richmond.
A good cheap eat, the food was pretty good, and the prices reasonable. Very casual dining, with a tv running on the side, and unfortunately they didnt quite get our order 100% right – tofu is not quite the same as chicken… But overall we had a good meal and left happy. Disappointing to be told some of the things we wanted on the menu were not available.
Disappointing. Small menu, average food, poor service and that was in an empty restaurant! I can’t imagine it when dealing with other orders too…
Firstly, server couldn’t even be bothered to provide menus the right way around. We were told to order at the register (even in an empty restaurant > no table service) and had to wait while he finished a face time call before we could order. The two dishes we wanted were not available and he pointed to a menu on the wall with 6 options labelled as such (no mention when we were given menus). Ordered something else that wasn’t marked ‘unavailable’ on the wall menu, and was told that that too was not an option.
Settled for Bahn Mi (no chilli, no pate, bland) and chicken pho (bland, 3 slices of chilli only).
If you want great Vietnamese, I think you have to travel farther than Ivanhoe, for now.
Ordered the BBH. If only I had read the other review here first which is totally true. It was tasteless and not proper BBH at all. Even the meat was overcooked.
Great little place. Small but tasty menu, and friendly service. Only wish there were more vegetarian options, so I could convince my wife to go more often.
Always delicious and well priced vietnamese, with such friendly service. Just a local place with simple furnishings but the food is fantastic.
