My friend picked this place as there were lots of gluten free, vegetarian options. Standard cafe fare with various beverage options including Mork hot chocolate with Bounty, coconut and almond milk. I’d ordered a turmeric latte and it was the size of a soup bowl!
My friend enjoyed her haloumi sandwich with beetroot relish and smashed avo. My smashed avo on toast with two poached eggs and feta was spiced up with a sprinkling of dukkah.
The bright, functional space had boxes of toys to keep the little diners entertained. Service was quick and polite though the one person in front of house was clearly rushed.
It was a good experience for my friend with dietary requirements and challenges finding decent places that cater well for her. Everything was ok for me but no hook to make the experience remarkable. Given Melbourne’s diverse and competitive culinary offerings, I probably wouldn’t return soon.
Would highly recommend giving Saint Lucent a visit if you’re in the area! Their interior also seems very kid friendly
Ordered:
Sweet potato & pumpkin hash (v): with potatoes, kale, quinoa, avocado smash, toasted pepitas & a poached egg ($17.00)
+ grilled halloumi (v) ($4.00)
Review:
Such a cute quaint cafe that expanded further inside. My mate and I sat here comfortably for almost 4 hours, on lovely couches with devices plugged into the wall. Free WiFi is always appreciated and noticed. Quiet, slow service but friendly all around.
The hash wasn’t what I expected – I was imagining a more compressed version (like a hash brown) but the salad was still flavourful and great all the same.
Added halloumi was a great call because it gave the salad that much needed depth, heaviness and that good salty hit.
There are heaps of cafes within the area but i was very impressed with Saint Lucent. Spacious and not streaming with people. Nice decor and vibe. It feels comfortable.
I had poached eggs with potato croquettes. Food was quite good – there may be too much bread with poached eggs so having a jam on the side could make it a fraction easier to eat it all. But if you had scrambled eggs it wouldn’t be noticed.
Will happilly eat here again or sit and have a latte. Great place.
