The Convent Bakery Once home to the sisters of the good shepherd, The Abbotsford grounds are surrounded by magnificent gardens and historical architecture. The heritage site today hosts many events and markets on weekends.Nestled in this beautiful ground, The Convent Bakery is caretaker of Two grand wood fire masonry ovens, built in the 1900s. Italian baker, Domenico Raco and his family fired up the oven in 2005. Recently renovated to bring a more contemporary feel, The Convent Bakery retains its old world charm, offering breakfast, lunch, alcohol license, functions and bread-making classes. Coffee beans are sourced from around the world, fair trade, certified organic and roasted on-site. Domenico and his family also proudly support the Gateway childrens fund and The Alkira Foundation.
