I was so impressed with everything at Dawson. As you walk in, its big and expansive but welcoming as well. With natural light filling the room. The coffee was rich and delicious and my friend had a hot chocolate and loved it.
The meals were the standout, with each dish being crafted so well.
The big breakfast was just that, big! And hit all the spots. Hash browns, mushrooms, smashed avo, salsa, eggs your way, bacon and toast. A real crowd pleaser.
The smashed avo was nicely done, with feta adding a nice touch. I love that it was also served on pumpkin sourdough (one of my fave things!).
Finally the Dawson Benedict was presented beautifully and a little different touch on the standard Benny. It can on smoked salmon and with a herbed hollandaise which made it extra special.
We loved our brunch experience. Well have to pop back in for lunch or dinner I think, the pizzas being brought out around us looked amazing.
    Thanks guys!

I went to Dawson Kew for dinner the other night and started off with the saganaki with figs and orange blossom honey , mac and cheese croquettes and sticky pork belly

The Saganaki was beautifully presented and the honey and figs complimented the saltiness of the cheese really well and cut through the richness. The mac and cheese croquettes was our second favourite dish, the pasta was cooked perfectly and there was just enough cheese inside to do a nice pull, the harissa mayo was a nice addition as it gave the croquettes flavour. The pork belly had great flavour – sticky sauce was fantastic but I do feel like it could have been cooked alittle longer as it was not tender enough for my liking

For main we shared a seafood paella, each piece of seafood was perfectly cooked and we loved the flavour of the dish. The rice was crunchy at the bottom and cooked al dente. For dessert we ordered the strawberry sphere which was so delicious, the theatrical element of breaking the sphere to reveal a delicious cream and liquid strawberry centre

Overall we had a great time at Dawson Kew and I would definitely return to try more dishes and also try their brunch menu

    Thanks for having us

Been here a few times and the menu is so good you just want to eat everything. I ended up getting the wagyu burger but without the bun, the waitress was so lovely she suggest lettuce cups which I agreed to. The meat was so tender and juicy, the flavours were great, will definitely be back.

I booked Dawson for a celebratory lunch with friends, and it was the perfect choice! The cafe was lovely and spacious, great for any occasion. The staff were all incredibly friendly which was a massive positive too. All of my friends were impressed with the presentation of our meals! We ordered a bowl of fries to share, and the herb aioli was a big hit. For my own meal, I ordered the savory French toast which Id recommend. The combo of everything was delicious, and I especially loved the strong truffle flavour. Would highly recommend this cafe in kew!

Dawson is a funky place, but Twosheds thinks it is a tad overrated. Great fitout. But a bit dark down in the bowels. We lunched here on a Saturday and we were surprised it wasnt more packed to the gills. The fare here is modern Aussie stuff and pizza. Wine list is short and serviceable. Service is swift and amenable. Clientele is classic Kew: rich and coiffured, young and old alike. It was $10 pizza day for the joints birthday, but we had fish and chips and a calamari salad, washed down with obligatory Riesling (Paulettes 2017 – superb). Fish was lovely but there wasnt enough of it. Batter was great. Calamari salad was deliciously dressed Asian style. But the calamari was tough. Membrane removal was not optimal, and flavour was sub optimal. Most ordinary calamari wed tasted for quite a while.

Dropped into Dawson for a quick lucnch and was super impressed. The venue looks likes it’s been recently fitted out and had a good food menu to match. I ordered the lamb which was super tasty, can’t wait to come back and try their pizzas.

Dawson is such a great place for brunch. It is a beautiful large cafe with lots of food to choose from.

We had the paella, which was perfectly cooked. It was tasty and crunch at the bottom of the pan. We also had the matcha panna cotta, which was one of the best panna cottas in Melbourne. It wasn’t too sweet and the fruit the came with it really complimented each other.

Their chai tea and coffee were good too we really enjoyed it.
