Fishy business by name, fishy business by nature. If for no other reason their pricing on fresh fish makes no sense. $47pkg for flake but only $39pkg for fresh tassie salmon!? I question most of the prices.
Anyway the service is friendly but a little slow. The fish was grilled nicely bit the cardinal sin….bones (and fin) if your paying fillet prices it needs to be trimmed properly. The spicey calamari was from a packet. The serving size for chips is a joke. Your a fish and chip shop you shouldnt have small medium large and charge a fortune.
And the gravy. Oh lord if your serving gravox at least make sure you dissolve all the lumps out.
If this was my local, I’d be disappointed.
Honestly, one of the most poor customer service and food encounters I’ve ever had. I never write reviews about restaurants or takeaway shops because I am very patient and give the employees the benefit of the doubt having worked in hospitality. I signed up to write this review.
I waited 27 minutes for a GRILLED flake. One grilled flake- 27 minutes. No apology for the waiting time, flake was not even cooked properly and it cost me 7 dollars. This place is overpriced, the waiting time is absolutely ridiculous, do yourself a favor and not go here. Cheers.

Literally the WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPERIENCE I have had in a long time. Ordered non-battered fish, some chips, 2 burgers, dim sims and 2 large salads. Once we picked up the food and went home we realised the fish had been battered and they had forgotten the salads. Already a bad start. We returned get the salads and tell them that our order had been done incorrectly. The guy working there just said ‘oh’. No apology or recondition of the mistake.. The salads we were given were the small size and not the large we had ordered and paid for. The fish and chips themselves were okay but nothing special. The dim sims were cooked in oil that was too hot and the skin looked disgustingly bubbled and wrong. The burgers were labeled incorrectly and we had to swap them around. Obviously that’s not a big deal but in addition to the already appalling experience it was just another annoying thing. The burgers themselves were just terrible. The bread was stale and hard and the burger was raw in the middle. Sorry for the angry rant but this was just such a disappointing experience and no one else should have their dinner ruined like ours was!
Best fish and chip in Melbourne. I love the fish and chip with gravy, very yummy as the fish is freshly crumb every day. I saw they crumb it on the spot.
The chip is real and good quality, I saw some customer say is soggy which i think is the right chip as no like other which when you take away home it pack in a paper bag and still crispy which is more scary, WHY? you never know what chemical they mix in the chip always stay crispy.
I saw they open the big chip bag its from Australia made company McCain brand chip. I feel save even i take away home it will be abit soggy but its a real chip.
I favourite is calamari ring, crumb flake, chip and salad. The best of the best is DIM SIM.
One day when in on Saturday I saw they hand made the Dim Sim at the shop, I felt so touch as the Dim Sim is hand made one by one and not the factory machine made. Its so worth it as just only $1.5
The Fresh salad also come with a yummy sesame salad dressing too. Oh! the potato cake is the best too.
I try the burger yesterday, wow! better than i thought, better than Grill burger as the meat is juicy and taste great.
I will try the fish burger next time. he he !

Pretty Disappointing. Has to be some of the worst fish n chips I’ve had in a long, long time. As a new resident of Kew I thought I would try it out but wow… smallest flake known to man, chips were very poor, at least the crab stick was nice
Finally, great fish and chips in Kew!. I don’t know if this business has changed owners in the last few months, but there has been a vast improvement. We tried this place last year and were very disappointed – the fish was just ok, and the chips were soggy and horrible. We tried again earlier this month and were very pleasantly surprised. Beautiful crumbed flathead and yummy chips, and the big juicy crumbed scallops are fabulous! (note that these include the pink roe, which I love and have never understood why anyone would throw away, but this may not be to everyone’s taste). We just had another meal of the same, and the quality was just as good as last time. We are so happy to have finally found good fish and chips in Kew.
Note that they only do crumbed fish, not battered. But even as a battered fish fan, I love the crumbed fish from here.
The young male who serves at the counter is rude and lazy. The cook appears to work hard but the food is just okay (except for the veggie burger which is horrible).
