THE FOOD IS VERY BAD AND THE SERVICE IS VERY BAD AS WELL.1. The soup if the day is off, told the staff that, but they didn’t apologize and doesn’t care2. Some pieces of the deep fried pork ribs are off as well, it’s very oily too3. Mongolian beef is extremely oily and has a few pieces of meat and a lot of vegetables4. Half the portion of the West Lake Duck has no skin on it (I don’t know where the skin went, because we didn’t eat it). Portion with no skin on, looks like baby food / all mushy (not in pieces – I had trouble picking it up with chopsticks so I had to use a spoon).5. This place treats WESTERNERS and THEIR OWN FRIENDS very nicely, but NOT to others.(From the second I sat down to time I paid, no one asked how my meal was).Which is why I couldn’t tell them on how to improve their dishes, because no one asked me anything.6. Price ok, but meals are too small. 7. Since they don’t care, we won’t be coming back here again.

It’s not every day that you visit a Chinese restaurant that has outdoor playground equipment but Royal East Chinese Restaurant fits this bill. The playground is a remnant of the previous tenants, Souvlaki Hut. Apart from the playground the restaurant had all the elements of your typical Cantonese style restaurant: fish tank where you can choose your fish dish fresh, assorted Chinese BBQ meats hanging in the display cabinet, butcher paper tablecloths and laminated menus. During our visit, the 3 of us selected from the Lunch Specials menu. The Crispy Roast Pork came with an enormous serving of rice and was crispy and juicy in the right proportions. The Char Kway Teow carried a lovely spicy kick and the Seafood Dumplings in Noodle Soup was very generously stacked with fat, tasty dumplings made from a mix of pork, mushroom and prawn in a lovely tasty broth and bouncy egg noodles. The complimentary soup was a pleasant surprise. Surprisingly the MSG level was low. I would highly recommend the restaurant if you are in the area.
