A fantastic Mothers Day!. Made special by the friendly staff and delicious meals served at the Club.
Thoroughly enjoyed by all of our 4 generations.. Thank you.
A very pleasant little club that has been rescued in recent years by hardy locals. It has a nice unfussed feel. It’s an excellent community resource that isn’t overrun by gaming. Those activities are here but happily under control. The service here is pleasant and nicely efficient. My chicken parma with chips and salad was very nice. Unusually, it was so large I couldn’t finish it. I enjoyed it immensely though. It was also nice to get a quality Mornington Peninsula for under $7. A most pleasant meal here. I’ll definitely return.
Very disappointed, ordered a 3 chicken parmy’s with chips. Chicken was dry, chips tasted like they had been sitting in the bainmarie for a while , weren’t crispy and cold. l thought the chicken had been reheated.
I came here for my first time a couple of months ago and was really not impressed at all, food was bad, service was bad and even the workers attitudes were bad, I wasn’t ever coming back, but my friend told me to do him a favor and keep going there for a month it was just a bad night! For my friend I said yes, and to tell you the truth it’s a month of my life I will never get back, nothing ever changed, this place is great for being consistently bad, the food is terrible half the time they don’t have the full ingredients for their meals and just wing it, the service is shocking, always understaffed maybe with the exception of the tab bar where the guy that works down there is really nice but definitely doesn’t seem as though he loves working there, don’t get me wrong he’s good at his job just not enthusiastic about the place and how he gets treated by customers, he smiles and jokes it off but you can tell sometimes! The gaming staff act as if they really don’t care about the customers and ignore you most of the time and the whole time I was there the regulars felt it necessary to bag me, other customers, the venue other and staff behind their backs in a not so quiet manner, it’s definitely not a place I would recommend for families or anyone who has taste in food or atmosphere! My friend was also telling me that out of all the staff there are 1 male manager, 5 female supervisors, 1 male supervisor, about 13 regular female employees and 4 males, so seems a bit sexist, even the staff bag other staff members to customers, if you like that sought of atmosphere then make this your regular because it’s ridiculous!
What can I say, my friend had organised for us to have a get together here for yesterday, we had quite a few of us booked in for lunch for about 2 weeks but was called only a couple of days beforehand and told they can’t hold our booking, I went in there anyway out of curiosity and found that the bistro was still serving lunch, plenty of tables available, they had a function in the other bar all blocked off from the restaurant, my immediate thought was, ‘why the hell was our booking canceled’? I asked a lady who was working there and she said originally the function was going to be in the bistro, and I was like, well if it was going to be in the bistro why were able to make the booking in the 1st place? She didn’t know and said I’d have to ask the manager, apparently he will bend over backwards for the sporting and members groups involved with the club, and will cancel and turn away bookings to keep them happy! I decided to stay and try out the food, I had the chicken snitzel, seems to be a good focal point in my book, if you make a good snitzel your food is fine by me, although I had no intention of making any more bookings with this place, I finally got my snitzel, which was quite skinny and didn’t look the nicest, and to my shock didn’t come with gravy, I walked up to the counter and asked why there was no gravy or was it forgotten, and to my shock, they said oh sorry you actually have to purchase gravy for an extra $2,seriously, you have to buy gravy to go with your chicken snitzel! It’s a natural thing anywhere I’ve ever been, it comes with gravy, so I paid for gravy, and as soon as it went through to the kitchen, I hear the chef say who is the gravy for, the bistro girl says, it’s for the guy with the snitzel, which the chef if you want to call them that replies, why didn’t the dickhead order it with the snitzel! Seriously, if you are going to talk bad about your customers maybe don’t have an open pass into the kitchen where the customers can here you! At that point I decided I’d had enough and forfeited my meal to go elsewhere! My advice is obvious, if you are in Lara for any reason and I say that because there’s nothing to really go there for, go to the hotel and steer clear of this dive
The bistro here is great as long as you don’t go on a Thursday, or Saturday afternoon, Wednesday is parmy night, and they have a good range of different parmys that are really yummy, on Thursday nights they have the footballers come in and they do nothing but yell and make a lot of noise and Saturday afternoons you get deafened by the morons in the tab which is in the bistro, yelling at the races! Friday nights there’s the raffles which are good fun and you never know your luck with 30 odd raffles, the only downside is the caller she’s very depressing to listen to and has a weird ongoing joke thing with the riff raff in the tab! Try and steer clear of the gaming and bistro bars the staff pretty well much ignore you and don’t like to serve customers. The guys in the bar are really good they’ll serve you straight away and go the extra mile to help a customer but yeah try and stick with ordering food, the food is magnificent, the rest of the club needs a lot of work though! A huge plus side is that the drinks are cheap, I get 90% of my info from my mate Mitch and the rest personal experience, apparently a new menu on the way!
The place although has had renovations done in the past 6 to 12 months seems like it’s living in the 50’s, with lame old decor, the carpet in the bistro looks like someone threw up down the center of it, I don’t know who had the smart idea of putting a tab in a bistro, but it’s typically accompanied by the loud foul mouthed, racist, and disrespectful people you’d come to expect in a sporting venue!
