  Have been here a few times due to locality and felt now it was appropriate to leave a review. Service was great, meal size was large, atmosphere was good with a play area for the kids. However, the meal itself was less than great. Very mushy parmi and the oil used for cooking both chicken and chips left a funny taste. This is only my opinion and everyone’s taste is different.

  Not bad, I had the scotch fillet, and it was cooked very nicely and came with some nicely cooked vegetables and chips, I normally try the chicken snitzel or a parmy each time I try out a new place, but I came here after originally trying out the joke of a club on the other side of the tracks which definitely didn’t leave me in the best frame of mind for chicken, my advice is definitely come here if you are in Lara, the desserts are yummy here too

  My old review was based on the old chef, so new chef new review! I returned here with my wife and a friend and the food is fantastic, the steak cooked spot on and such a delightful cut of porterhouse. Our friend had the chicken snitzel and her chicken was cooked beautifully, big thick chicken breast which was juicy not dried out, and my wife had the Thai beef salad which she said was delicious and I got to try some of the beef it was delicious! My wife and I shared a sticky date together and it quite literally rivaled the best we’d had in geelong, well done Lara Hotel, the service was great, I just can’t get my head around the RSL style number calling, turns me off a bit, I guess every place has their own way of saving money, and not having to have an extra waitor delivering meals I guess is their way! Lost a star for that one

  Not terrible, not great, just fairly decent bistro style food. Was fairly quiet at lunch time on a Sunday. They weren’t able to accommodate a kids size serve of the chicken risotto, however we ordered it anyway and it was awesome. They do have a kids menu but only the typical chips, nuggets, pizza. Why do the kids always miss out on the good stuff?

  Anyway the other meals were ok and the staff did allow for some alterations to the crispy beef salad.

  As far as pubs go it’s alright

  Basic bistro, friendly staff, ok for a local.. We have been to the bistro three times now. Some of the more expensive meals seem a bit on the small side (lamb cutlets) and the ribs were apparently overcooked (and tiny for $33). The lamb ragout was really tasty though. The chicken schnitzel also looked worth checking out. The meals look well presented.

  The staff in the bistro area have all been very friendly. One woman happily getting me membership forms and a pen when I asked if there were some over behind the bar. Another guy rushing behind the bar when he saw I was waiting to be served and the other staff member was busy.

  I think we’ll stick to the basic stuff but for a basic pub meal it’s fine. I do wish parents would stop their kids screaming consistently but that’s hardly the venues fault!

  First and last time. No weeknight deals. For a Tuesday night our table ordered roast of the day, parmi, salmon, prawn pasta and kids nuggets and chips. Parmi $22.90 plus $2 for sauce!! Was a big enough meal, roast was big, both pasta and salmon were tiny was ready to do a maccas run. You have to go up and order and then go and collect your meal. Would rather drive to geelong for a better overall meal.!!!
