The Blacksmiths Brother is only 6 weeks old and the fitout is still fresh and new. Look up and the ceiling has doors hanging from it, while the shinny black ruggero coffee machine pumps out a great latte using their own blend of bean.
We started with a smooth long black, a chai tea latte and the vivid and Berry Dream smoothie (berries & apple).
For mains we tried the Hangover which had mushrooms, eggs, tomato chutney and a crispy maple bacon.
There are 4 varieties of Benedicts on the menu and all sounded great but we settled on the Baa Baa Benedict with slow cooked lamb, beetroot hommus, delicious orange yolk eggs and a rich and tasty hollandaise. That lamb was something else in terms of flavour.
Our third main was the sizeable Blacksmith board which was perfect for those who either cant decide or are wanting elements of sweet and savoury on the one dish. it had four different items which included a bacon and egg slider, hash brown with beetroot hommus and avocado. The birdseed crumb with fresh fruit and yogurt and a tasty little lemon curd tart. Quite a lot happening on this platter but all the elements were enjoyable and individual serves were good.
Fresh baked items are delivered from the original blacksmiths cafe in Belgrave each day so you can order some yummy pastry treats at this brother cafe too.
We really enjoyed our time at the Blacksmiths brother. Thanks so much for inviting us in.
