As we had to get some last minute shopping for mom, figured we could just have lunch there as well. Mr Pilgrim was a rustic looking cafe. There’s a separate coffee bench which I thought was a great idea especially for people who were just waiting for their takeaway coffees.
The menu was quite extensive and easy to accommodate all. I picked the Acai Power Bowl, and C ordered the Basil Pesto Scrambled Eggs. I had to say that it was quite a wait on food given the amount of staff they had. C’s scrambled eggs were smooth and fluffy, bread was soft as well. My acai bowl was pretty good too.
The only downside was as much as the cafe was well lit and decorated, the staff were really cold. They were the very task oriented young kids who were not prepared to hold chit chats with customers. They were probably understaff in kitchen and might be a good idea to do some reshuffle. Three people at the coffee stations where at least one wasn’t doing anything.
Good food, great menu, awesome dining space with a broad range of baked goods to round out your brunch/lunch experience. Good coffee too! The service can be a tad lacklustre, I suspect due to their employing of younger, less experienced staff. All in all, a very enjoyable experience though.
I ordered the magic mushrooms and OJ and my partner ordered the Mexican eggs. Overall the ambiance was pleasant which led it to be a comfortable brunch spot and customer service was good.
Only complaint was the intense ratio of mushrooms to bread on the magic mushrooms which made the bread incredibly soggy – definitely recommend adding a poached egg to balance the pallette.
Average place for breakfast but nice if you want a quiet spot in Chadstone.
