  • Split The Bill

Was a last minute fill in for the Ed Sheeran concert as one of my friends had a spare ticket as someone pulled out in the last minute. No one really organised dinner and as we were running late decided to check out the food trucks. My friend got a chicken wrap with chips for $16. Wrap was ok but the salad was basically lettuce and 2 bits of tomato so the meal was a little dry. I got small chips for $6 which were very fresh and hot. The food at these events are always a rip off so no suprise.

  • My Babes And I

My babes and I dropped off her sister to work at Caulfield Racecourse again on Saturday morning. Everytime were around the East of Melbourne, we head over to Chadstone Shopping Centre to try new restaurants that we dont usually have access to as we often have our lunches and dinner around the West. But instead of a restaurant, we headed over to check out the Food Truck Park, set up just outside of the Coles entrance, to try out some new foodtrucks.
Ive eaten at most of the foodtrucks on offer when I noticed one that I havent seen before. Reading that Wingsters Grilled Chicken foodtruck served Buttermilk Grilled Chicken was enough for me to want to try out the Buttermilk Grilled Burger with Chipotle Sauce and a Lemmy Lemonade for my drink. My babes loves chicken but, for some reason, she didnt have a good feeling about Wingsters so she tried something else from another foodtruck. In hindsight, I shouldve followed her lead!
Ive had buttermilk chicken before and the chicken in Wingsters Buttermilk Grilled Burger didnt taste anything like it! It had a slight hint of buttermilk but it was so light that it got lost amongst the bland burger bun, limp lettuce and tasteless tomato. The Chipotle sauce, which is meant to be made from a variant of the Jalapeno Chilli, wasnt even spicy and lacked the smokiness from a good Chipotle sauce. It was very disappointing, not only in its taste but size, as it was finished all too quickly for a burger that cost more than $10!
The best thing I bought was the Lemmy Lemonade. There was nothing special about it but it delivered on what it said it was; a lemonade drink. Thats more than I can say for Wingsters Buttermilk Grilled Chicken!
Wingsters Grilled Chicken foodtruck sounded exciting and being a new foodtruck, I was always going to try it. Having had it now, I have regrets but at least I know what it was like and that Ill most likely never try it again!
