Ordered truffle ramen, chicken tonkatsu curry rice, takoyaki and matcha latte (with green tea ice cream and cream). The truffle in the truffle ramen gave a unique flavour into the simple broth. The spoon makes it quite challenging to eat the ramen. Curry rice was alright, just another curry rice. Too much rice, only if they have options of having lesser rice/more rice options like Cocoichibanya. Takoyaki only had small piece of tako inside, kind of expected. The matcha latte was a must try if you love matcha and drinks those from Starbucks. It taste so good. I got the one with matcha soft serve on top and it was heavenly.
My experience at Yokozuna was so different. I tried Japanese at Yokozuna in Chadstone for the very first and I really enjoyed it! Its lovely when you try some different cuisines once in a while!
We ordered the Karachi chicken sauce ramen and Yokozuna chicken bento. The Karachi chicken was so yummy! So crispy on the outside yet so tender and juicy on the inside. The bento was amazing as well. So many flavours.
And for dessert we ordered the green tea mousse. Everything that I had at Yokozuna was my first try. Ive never had green tea desserts before and after that mousse at Yokozuna, Ive decided to give it a go from now on.
The cost was very reasonable! We only paid around $35 for everything and it was totally worth the money.
Came pass on a Sunday and saw it already has a long queue outside at 11am, so I decide to queue and have a try. The ramen noodles were just average and soup were bit salty for me.
People are very passionate about ramen and whats good and bad. This ramen did what it had to do for me, warm me up with tasty hearty broth, and fill me up with ramen noodles and other bits and bobs. It did that.
This ramen bar is very typical of most Melbourne ramen bars. Reasonably priced ramen option in Chaddy.
Ordered the Yokozuna Kaisen Bento (Soft shell crab bento), Pan fried pork gyoza, Takoyaki and an ice matcha latte with green tea soft serve. The bento was half a bento which consisted of one piece of soft shell crab tempura and a mix of seafood sticks, green beans and fillet fish tempura, salmon avocado hand roll, 3 pieces of salmon sashimi and mini udon soup. I was expecting more soft shell crab as the bento was supposed to be soft shell crab bento, tempura was delicious, udon soup was average, handrolls were good, salmon sashimi was fresh, pan fried pork gyoza was average as the gyoza skin was dry and the filling was average, tasked like packaged gyoza, Takoyaki was delicious with the bonito flakes and sauce. The green tea latte was fantastic and tasty. Service was excellent. I think this place is best for ramen and greentea drink/desserts. Don’t go for the premium bentos.
LIT!: Ive been here a couple of times. The pork broth based ramen is very flavourful and their ramen is always enjoyable (provided Im not comparing to ippudo or gensuke). I love how they give you two big seaweed pieces and sizing is perfect. Dont forget to order the matcha shake with green tea ice cream. It never does wrong.
NOT SO LIT: the chicken broth. Choose porkkkk broth.
Thanks for having us! X
