Churro waffles – how could I say no? It was a most indulgent dish for breakfast, with waffles dusted with cinnamon sugar that were crisped on the outside yet soft and fluffy inside. The chocolate sauce added an element of sweetness which was balanced by the tart freeze-dried raspberries.
My only minor gripe would be the missing havla fairy floss. I personally dislike fairy floss but when it’s stated on the menu, it should be present on the dish. Queried this with a waitress and she said that because it was a special fairy floss, it might have disintegrated before it reached our table. Say what?!
That aside, everything else was wonderful. My partner’s shakshuka was the perfect winter’s day meal – hearty and warming. The halloumi gave the dish a further savoury bite, and the toasted bread was perfect to mop up all the delicious sauce.
Our skinny lattes were strong and smooth, very easy to drink. Service was friendly and helpful. A near perfect experience that was unfortunately marred by the fairy floss scandal.
