I have been meaning to write a review for Mama Papa for a while now. I usually order through menulog but on this occasion we dined in, so I finally took some photos to do the food some justice.
I dont normally comment on staff but the staff at Mama Papa are so welcoming and friendly they deserve a shout out. Even at their busiest times, they are very patient.
In terms of food, it is one of my favourite Thai restaurants. Yep, price range is a little more mid range but they consistently bang out dishes that are full of flavour with a balance of sweet, savoury and spice. I have ordered here plenty of times, and my go to is the king prawn pad thai. It never lets me down. My other favourite is their stir fry with cashew nuts. Mama Papa is a great restaurant if youre in Malvern, or to order in for those treat nights when you dont feel like cooking.
5/5 for amazing Thai take away.
I have a pretty serious fish allergy and they were more than helpful on the phone to make sure there wasn’t anything seafood related in any meal.
The chicken pad se ew was super fresh, loads of vegetables and chicken. Fried rice with pineapple and cashews was a generous serve, spring rolls I wish there was more as they are super tasty and I could eat a container of the sweet sour crisp chicken to myself if I could.
Really delicious food – and great they listen to allergies!!
The decor and atmosphere was good and suitable for a nice dinner with friends and family. Staffs were friendly and helpful. Unfortunately the green beef curry tasted a bit on the funny side and I guess something in the ingredients might have gone off or not so fresh
It is my favorite Thai restaurant in Melbourne. Food is fresh and tasty and price is reasonable. Staffs are very friendly. Interior is also nice.
We went here tonight. The service was nice. The food was terrible. The Tiger Beef was a very small portion and the Pad See Ew was bland. To top it off we both felt that gritty crunchy feeling when chewing like the greens hadn’t been properly washed. We told the waitress but they still charged us full price.
I bought take away here and it was just full of salt. It was expensive and I will not be returning. So often people are reluctant to speak out about this, I would not advise buying takeaway at this restaurant.
We went for pad thai and their special green veggies with tofu.
I think I paid extra to eat on Glenferrie road. The place was neatly laid out and so very clean. Service was friendly, but then, I haven’t been to any Thai place that is not friendly.
Pad Thai was alright. Nothing special and nothing wrong, if anything, little sweeter than usual.
The portion size of the green veggie dish was small. The description says green veggies with tofu. But there were maybe 5 pieces of tofu. However, it was the tastier of the two dishes.
Overall it was pricey for what you get and taste is pedestrian.
