On a winter day you are totally lost and hungry in a city that’s going to be your ‘Home away from Home’ for many years, we chanced upon ‘One Origin’ on our way to Malvern station. The lady at the counter saw us going through the Menu stuck on the glass door of this cute cafe and invited us in with a warm smile.

This cafe is warm and wonderfully simple, although, the food on the menu is an interesting mix of Gluten-Free, Vegan and Regular. Called for a One Origin Club Sandwich, Grilled Chicken Quinoa Salad, English Breakfast Tea and a Mork (Hot) Chocolate with 70% dark in a Skinny Milk.

Mork Chocolate and Grilled Chicken was clearly the winner. Mork Chocolate was perfectly dark, hot, yummy and perfect for a windy afternoon. Apparently, they use Mork’s 70% Dark Cocoa which is supposed to be the best in Australia.

Grilled Chicken in the Quinoa Salad was moist and blended quite well with the beetroot and greens with lemony dressing and cheese.

One Origin’s Club Sandwich would have been even better had the Baguette been less chewy and tough. It was kinda disappointing to enjoy something beautiful wrapped in something that was totally rubbery. Sweet Potato chips that accompanied this Sandwich was a deal, although greasy.

Worth the dollars spent….hope to see them serve fresh Baguette next time….and definitely going to try the coffees (didn’t know they specialised in coffees until now).

Totally deserves a 3.5 for the disappointing Baguette but a 0.5 more for the Salad and Hot Chocolate.

What a warm place. I’m a simple man, with simple tastes. So when this cafe had a big brekkie I had to try it. I’m attracted to these massive plates of food that is only made for breakfast.
One Origin’s Big Brekkie was tasty with a really great helping of scrambled eggs.
My only critique is that the meal didn’t come with a sauce of some kind or a chutney.
The coffee was great with beautiful latte art.

Please do yourself a favour and try this place out.
I will have to come back and try their other meals.

If you want a strong coffee that is smooth and rich in taste these guys are a winner. Their handmade haloumi is out of this world and the place has a chilled vibe. It’s not a huge place so it can get noisy from time to time but this is my go to place when I have a day off work and every other time in between.

great service, coffee is good and breakfast was also good so i would recommend this place. we tried the smashed avocado and the granola. both were very tasty.

Came hear upon recommendation that their coffee’s great, I think it’s just average. Their service is great! Tried the zucchini fritters with poached eggs, relish & salmon – fritters were soggy having 2 eggs sitting on it, wasn’t appetising. Waffles was good. The pulled chicken burger was nicely charred & the sweet potato chips were delish!

    1. The small size cafe cost 3.8 Aud, compared with others’ the price is a little bit expensive. 2. The flavor of the cafe is strong, they definitely used deep roasted coffee beans, that is good. However, the strong flavor didn’t last for long. It’s only in the beginning.

Nice quiet place on Glenferrie Rd, not as popular as other Malvern cafes on Sunday, but very pleasant, with an everybody’s favourites sort of menu and some specials of the day.

I had the zucchini fritters, with 2 poached eggs, fresh salsa and added chorizo. The eggs were perfectly poached, and the salsa was was really tasty an fresh. Overall, quite yummy, but the fritters were paper thin, and the chorizo was halved, not even chopped in portions. I think the dish needed or thicker fritters to balance flavours and textures. Yet, I enjoyed it.

The coffee is really well prepared, but a wiki. Not my fav sort of coffee.

Some of the staff were lovely, others matter of fact.
