UPDATE I was invited to Street Organics on the weekend and given my review was over 18 months old and the experience was quite different I have updated it. From memory the steel cut oats with banana and berry compote that I had was $12.50 which is very reasonable for such a large bowl of winter goodness. We also had a chicken salad not listed on the current menu which was vibrantly presented and very tasty. We sampled a new lemon balm tea which was very flavourful, particularly in contrast to the lemongrass and ginger we had had at another cafe earlier that day. I also took the opportunity to try my first dandelion latte which I thoroughly enjoyed. I’ve seen these before but they aren’t available everywhere and are definitely worth experiencing not only for their health benefits but their delicious flavour.I also really applaud their efforts at recycling and reducing waste visible through the discounts offered for recycling cups and bottles etc. They are really living their mantra here which is to be admired and we can all do with embracing a healthy lifestyle a bit more On a diet? Come here. Servings sizes are for ants. $10.90 for two paleo toasts with almond butter and banana- was not even the size of one piece of bread when put together. Poached eggs on ciabatta bun also $10.90 the bread size was that of a larger size canapé. Fortunately we had also ordered a chicken pesto toastie and surprisingly we were full after sharing that but my partner wasn’t impressed by the coffee at all. It’s a prepay at the counter type situation and the space is full of organic wares for purchase, 2 kgs of cashews for $113 anyone? As we left I noticed the sign that said ‘eat but not too much’ not sure if this is akin to mindfulness or an eating disorder but the kitchen certainly upholds the motto. If you want something healthy go to Seratonin

Poor service, bad attitude. First time we came it was table service. This time it wasn’t and so we waited for 45mins. Of which a big group who arrived later was served first at their table which was given to them despite the fact it was booked less than 30 minutes later. Food was overpriced, had to be paid for before it came out and took a long time. Coffee was paid for separately because of this ‘no table service’ which felt more like a cheap rsl than a popular cafe in Melbourne.

Delicious dinner at street organic. Super cute layout and great for any food intolerances! I love cauliflower rice so it’s nice that this place offers it as an option with every meal. Can’t wait to try out their soups! Would recommend the quinoa bowl, only criticism was I found the avocado a little bit under ripe. The risotto was also lovely :). If you’re hungry you might want a one and a half meals to share as the meals are on the smaller side, but the waitress was totally transparent about this as she talked us through the menu since we hadn’t visited before. Will be back to try their lunch menu.

We were delighted to be invited to Street Organics Cafe in Malvern to check out their menu. This cafe and organic shop has been a established part of the high street Malvern community for upwards of 5 years. The menu had a wide range of items catering for all sorts of diets and dietary requirements from paleo to gluten free to fod map friendly. It was an unseasonably warm and sunny day so we sat outside and the tables out front. To start with we ordered lattes off the extensive hot drinks list, apart from regular lattes there was also dandelion, Chaga mocha & moringa maple. My skinny latte was suitably tasty and KD’s chai latte was made with house made almond milk which she claimed had a cleaner taste than store bought.I ordered the Big breakfast which came with free range ham & poached eggs on toast with house baked beans with sauerkraut and a cauliflower hash brown. The baked beans had a lovely smokey tomatoey flavour and the poached eggs was well cooked. I hadn’t had a cauliflower hash before but this was surprisingly tasty and I would definitely have again. We also had a delightfully presented Açaí bowl of banana, blueberries, acai nuts and seeds. The açaí bowl had a delicious thick texture with a subtle banana flavour, the seeds and flaked coconut adding a lovely textural element giving a satisfying crunch to this dish.Street Organic has a great range of cakes and slices if that’s your thing and some amazing sounding smoothies. Thanks so much for having us in.

Street Organics make a mean green smoothie. Fantastic organic menu options food wise. This cafe is worth a visit if you are in the area. @plantbasedmum_
