Just off Glenferrie Road on Wattletree is Sugo, an Italian cafe slash restaurant. I was invited her on a blogger night. I love how homely and cosy this venue is, it’s a nice change from a regular cafe/bistro. It’s more like you’re entering someone’s home.

We tried an array of dishes – it was quite overwhelming and I was trying to take everything in. The standouts for me where the marinara pasta and the meatball pasta. I would definitely come back for the meatball pasta. Special mention to the anancini balls – I’ve had my fair share of balls in my life and these ones were particularly good. What is common about all the dishes was they felt traditional, hearty and tasty.

With a menu like this, you will struggle to find something you won’t like. I would take a group of people here who have varied tastes, but everyone will leave satisfied. Bellisimo.

I was so lucky to be invited to Sugo for a blogger event night and was treated to a wonderful array of authentic Italian dishes from their menu. The venue itself is warm and welcoming, with comfortable seating and ample table space.

The banquet consisted of a selection of entrees, mains and desserts. For entree, I really enjoyed the arancini balls – I mean, you cant really go wrong! The Sugo bruschetta was also pretty refreshing. The Italian meatball tartalle was a standout main and seemed to be the most popular dish on our table. To end with a sweet note, the flourless chocolate cake was delightful and paired nicely with the ice cream. I wish there was more of it!

Overall, I had a really lovely night at Sugo. It was so nice to meet and get to know other bloggers too!

I was invited to a blogger event at Sugo tonight for some seriously impressive pasta. We kicked off with some yummy bruschetta before moving into an array of tasty dishes including the visually stunning black spaghetti with tiger prawns.

Equally delicious was the beef tarragon ragu and I cant forget the Italian meatballs in that rich tomato sauce. All very flavourful and perfectly cooked. There were other dishes at the table but I saved my room for dessert.

The creme caramel was a bit flat looking but what it lacked in looks of certainly made up for in taste. My favourite dish however was the flourless chocolate which was rich and decadent. Such a handy location right on the tram stop and not to mention directly opposite Malvern central, it makes for the perfect post shop carb loading authentic Italian meal

Sugo was such a cute Italian restaurant. We started off with some delicious entrees (The toasted saganaki was delicious ) and then we had some delicious pasta. I would definitely recommend the meatball taleteller the desserts were quite nice however I think the mains were definitely better.

Came to a bloggers night at Sugo in Malvern and enjoyed a wonderful meal showcasing many of the new dishes on their menu. This venue has a well styled interior and home made pasta and gnocchi was clearly a specialty considering that the pasta dishes seemed to have the widest appeal.

I loved the prawns with squid ink spaghetti, which was nicely flavoured, while the slow cooked ragu pasta was bold, rich and delicious.

Standout entrees for me was the spicy calamari and I find it hard to go past a good arancini ball or two.

For dessert everyone enjoyed the flourless chocolate cake but the creme caramel with biscotti was also well received.

A really great selection and a really enjoyable evening that I appreciated being invited.

This is a lovely venue with excellent service and very friendly staff. The seating is spacious and there is a calm vibe. The aracini balls were tasty and I enjoyed the Italian meatball taletaller and the chicken pizza.

We went to sugo tonight for a friends birthday.

Ambiance- 5: The ambiance here is really nice! A few of us said it would be the perfect place for a date as there are kind of secluded couch tables up back and really pretty fairly lights in the front outside.

Service 3: The first waiter which sat us was super friendly and probably the best out of all the wait staff. He gave very helpful suggestions! There were two nice girls aswell, one which offered to box my left overs (which I always love as it doesnt get chucked out).
There was another male waiter who ruined our surprise!! We had purposely called before to arrange candles and a sparkler in a cake we bought.
However the waiter decided to give us cutlery before the cake, so our friend figured she was getting a cake :((((( devastating.

Food: the food was very average and pricy. The pizza is quite doughy and the pasta was nice and cheesy. Everyone said there meals were okay but no one was in heaven with theirs.

Fun facts: One great thing here is that you can byo wine! Which of course we did! (Need to pay for corkage).
