We were invited to T&G today seven months on from our original visit during opening week. We took the opportunity to sample the finger on the pulse a new dish on their winter menu which was a deliciously nourishing bowl of goodness including quinoa, lentils, avo, kale chips, tomato and spinach hummus.

I tried their smashed avo rendition which had the colourful addition of a beetroot hummus. Smashed avo in my opinion is one of lifes great joys and this one was no exception. We finished up with the dark chocolate and pea protein pancakes. Quite frankly I was astounded at how good these were! Both gluten free and vegan the taste was not compromised in any way and you dont even have to feel guilty about eating them. Definitely the best version of a protein pancake Ive ever had and a must order. We continue to be impressed by all that they do here

It was such a delight to dine as guests of Tonic and Grace yesterday. Open a mere few days owner Leah was unbelievably well prepared having put in some serious research to her gf and sugar free venture. A dietician and nutritionist consulted on the menu which is predominantly vegetarian and vegan (although there is an option to add eggs or meat for all you hard core protein lovers out there) and its all about health and well-being.
Perfectly situated on Glenferrie road Malvern aka gym junkie central T&G takes the clean eating agenda to a new level. Her passionate ambition is to flip the coin on dietary requirements, having worked many years in hospitality she has observed how cafes have generally considered gluten intolerance and other dietaries to be an issue. She wants to embrace these requirements and fully cater to their needs so that someone who is gf that walks in here wont have to ask whats gf? because everything is. Having had friends struggle with these requirements when dining out I think this is a pretty cool concept. Gf food has also come a long way in that it doesnt taste like it did 10 years ago. These days youd be hard pressed to tell the difference and here you know you will be getting a nourishing meal that has been well thought out from every angle.
So what did we have? Beverage wise I tried the 99th monkey golden latte as it was a blend I was unfamiliar with and I was interested to see how it stacked up. Im glad I chanced it as it was rather delicious as were the juices both the garden party and the summertime. Green juices can sometimes be unbalanced (and taste a little like grass just quietly) but this one was delicious.
We opted for the mariachi bowl which was a yummy little Mexican number as the name might suggest and the Amazonia as well as the go green bowl, both of which can also be ordered as a smoothie. Both had strong health credentials with inclusions such as spirulina, hemp seed, matcha and raw cacao and were the perfect option for such a warm day. This place really is a fitspo (and instagrammers) dream with vibrant dishes that are not only good for the soul but your tastebuds will thank you too during opening week. This slick clean cafe has a menu bursting with super healthy options, ah, but I chose the almost healthy Protein Plate. The portion size was generous, the food fabulous, the crew helpful and I will return. Next time I will request butter for my toast.

I’m always excited to see a new healthy cafe pop up in my area. Some don’t live up to expectation, but Tonic and Grace exceeds them. Love love love their vegan chocolate pancakes infused with protein. Consistency is nice and soft despite their ingredients and toppings are fresh and healthy while still adding the necessary flavour and moisture to the dish. Also tried their okinomiyaki, a savoury Japanese pancake made without the addition of fish (a usually feature of the dish). It’s got great texture and is filling for the price

Tonic and Grace has been a cafe I’ve been wanting to visit for so long, being attracted to their nutrient dense menu after just a glimpse. And I was not disappointed at all!

    Food:
We ordered the Dirty Chai Granola and the Captain Gillenstalk. The Dirty Chai Granola was a beautifully presented dish, and the panna cotta was infused with a modest chai flavour that was enjoyed thoroughly. Accompanied with a soy milk, the fruits and granola were fresh and delicious. The Captain Gillenstalk was truly a mushroom medley with a range of various fungi and mushrooms, all packed with herbal flavour, the creamy cashew cream also a highlight. Love that each of the dishes are so nutrient dense and are curated to heal and feed your soul and body with nutrients!

    Ambience:
The perfect day, blue skies and sun shining, my brunch partner and I decided to head to the courtyard, and enjoy brunch under some umbrellas. With a few other brunch groups and the beautiful weather to accompany, it was a lovely environment.

    Service:
The waiters were very welcoming and attentive, greeting and attending to us with a smile. The food and drinks came out very promptly too!

We visited this beautiful cafe on a hot summers day, and we sat out the back in their well shaded seating area. We enjoyed a variety of dishes that we loved because they were healthy versions of your classic dishes with avocado on toast, chocolate pancakes and eggs Benedict! If youre looking for a guilt free, healthy breakfast look no further!

I absolutely love the concept of health and wellness at this cafe with a range of dishes to suit all dietary requirements from pancakes, to burrito bowls and delicious salads. Each dish is beautifully curated and bursting with flavour. The moment you walk into this stunning cafe you’re warmly greeted by the lovely staff!

Their vegan options are NOT bland but super delicious and enjoyable, my personal favourite is the pancakes being a huge chocolate lover!

The outdoor courtyard is also a beautiful edition! so spacious! Ive visited this place three times and every visit has been an amazing one! the food for sure speaks for itself! I cannot recommend this cafe enough! Cannot wait to revisit!

I was invited to try Tonic & Grace. A cute little cafe in Malvern , very friendly vibe about the place. They have a great outdoor courtyard in the back which will be great in summer. Food was great , I really enjoyed my smashed avo with a twist, it had some great accompaniments to it that really boosted the flavour level. I would definitely revisit if I was in the area again.
