Been to the one in the city and was really good so decided to try the highpoint since it new and the food was quiet similar. Menu was different not not so much but the atmosphere was kid friendly offering a kids playground.
Finally a Korean fried chicken restaurant in the west! The quality of the food were just as great as the city locations. Highly recommend those whom havent tried the potato heaven to get it with the fried chicken! Further improvement could be considered because many of the staff were not customer orientated or efficient. Other than that, food was awesome.
I feel like because there was so much hype for the opening in HP that there was also high expectations for it to be like the city stores.
We came on a Sunday night and it was pretty packed. We only ordered one whole chicken and it took approximately 50 minutes to come out. After waiting around 40 mins I did ask one of the waiters about it and she didn’t say anything to me after. I had a different waiter come up to us to tell us that it was last orders which I also mentioned to her we haven’t even received our chicken yet. When the food came there was no apology for our long wait. It was sad that we waited for soo long and the taste of the sauce just didn’t seem as good as what I’m use to at all the other stores. Fortunately the chicken was still crispy and not dry.
Gami is hands down my favourite KFC in Melbourne and the HP store just didn’t do it justice. Unfortunately I am so disappointed that I definitely would prefer to go to the city stores even though this one is much closer to home. Hopefully management sees all the mixed reviews and they can improve in their service and food because it has soo much potential to be better.
I dont know what it is about the store in maribyrnong but this store is the only one that disappoints.
Although everything was the same on the menu as other stores, it definitely lacked something in each recipe.
Service was terrible, staff were all young and clueless, how can you sit customers down without providing any menus? The manager was just as bad, standing around not engaging one bit with the customers.
It takes a long time for your chicken to come out.
One of our flavours got missed despite repeating the order.
Just a big disappointment as the people from the west were really looking forward with the opening of gami in the west!
Would rather drive all the way to the ones in the city, wait and get served there than be served here.
Sounds cruel but I came here twice to give them a chance since they just opened but it disappoints after the other.
3.5/5
Went on a Saturday. Waited for about 35 min for the fried chicken. Had to ask the staffs twice to get our table water. Chicken was good though. Crispy and flavourful.
There was so much anticipation around Gami opening in Highpoint shopping centre but there is still so much room for improvement with this branch.
Food: we ordered a whole chicken half original half soy garlic and japchae. The chicken itself look crispy and well cooked but the original half exposed the poor cooking skills and dryness of the chicken. It was tough and dry and over cooked. The soy garlic sauce was better as it eased the dryness and hardness of the skin. It was below average unfortunately. The japchae was also poorly executed as the noodles were over cooked and clumped together which didnt allow the the sauce and other condiments to mix together. It also didnt taste like japchae and more like hokkien sweet soy sauce. Overall good was a let down.
Service: the staff here seems really poor trained and were extremely awkward making interactions and asking for assistance really uninviting and uncomfortable and we witnessed this with the tables surrounding us as well . When our food was brought to the table, the condiments which was supposed to come with the chicken and our rice which we ordered had to be reminded one by one.
Overall, I think there is definitely potential for improvement and they should try to improve because so many people had really high hopes for Gami opening at highpoint.
Love the food here. Very good location, close to the Highpoint Hoyts cinema. Service is also good, but feels like kitchen is unorganised. Our order came in separate time. It was quite a while to wait. But overall its good.
