Ducked in for a quick bite before my flight.
The plain croissant was warmed up and was still flaky, nice buttery flavour.
Ordered a baguette from the display which came warmed and toasted. Very plain bun with lettuce and almost like a stirfry of beef and capsicum. I think I could have skipped this bun and just had the croissant and coffee. Kind of expected more from the guys at Movida.
My strong skinny latte was slightly on the milky side but still had good hit of espresso.
Anyway, it was all served pretty quickly and I was still able to track the time and make my flight.
I have 0% expectations with airport food however this was really quite nice , had big breakfast and smashed avo and would give it a solid 3.5. Looked 100 times better than other international cafes .
WTF. As someone who has visited Movida and love it this place has a lot to live up to. Unfortunately though its far from the well known Melbourne brand. The food is thrown together in a couple of minutes, either well & truly salted or sliding across the plate in oil.
There is certainly a market among the slim pickings at Melbourne airport, and it deserves to show the quality that the city has on offer, however this concept misses the mark by a long shot.
Its time for a real chef to take up a role in the kitchen and for the significant Movida brand to show what its capable of, to say the least it undermines all the positive offerings at the city restaurant.
Had very low expectations as airport coffee is generally terrible and overpriced. My latte had great flavour and smoothly frothed milk. It wasnt bad value at $5.30 for the standard size which I considered quite large.
