The tide is high and I’m holding on. We came into Hightide to get something to tide us over until we cleared customs and went to one of the airport lounges. We settled on the wedges and Coke because to be honest none of the other hot food looked that appealing. Wedges were just ok. They may have been sitting under the heat lamp for a while before we arrived at the airport but served their purpose. I probably would try something gate side in reflection but a good option for a cheapish meal before a flight no food included flight.
Had a week in Melbourne, upon arriving to the airport to go home we stopped at the Hightide Lounge. Don’t make the same mistake we did.
My parents got a ham, Cheese Tomato toasted sandwich and a blt sandwich.
The HCT was stone cold. Like, stone cold. The tomato was whivered and old. Overall pretty bad. But it gets worse.
The BLT had cold bacon. It had been cooked at one point within the last week, couldn’t pinpoint when but it had. Upon taking both orders back up, they actually argued with my mum over her cold bacon. Apparently because it doesn’t advertise as warmed, it doesn’t need to be.
So fast forward 10 minutes.
The HCT and BLT comes back out. The whole BLT has been warmed. Including the lettuce. The best part about both of the sandwiches was the bread (Yay!)
I got the beef stew and mash. Partly mashed potato and the blandest Stew I’ve ever had.
Oh, and the rudest wait staff ever. This experience actually annoyed me enough to write this. Absolutely terrible.
Save your money, go to Maccas for a better feed.
At the airport looking for a quick brekkie I found this cafe. It’s quite reasonable, as it cost $7.60 for 2 eggs. benedict.

Very mediocre coffee, watery at best. Muffin was extremely so-so. Tasted like a packet mix and Incredibly rude and lazy staff. Staff should remember not to muck around with the food or conduct themselves like they’re at a party. Management should probably review….
Been here a while ago. The food is ordinary. My husband had a big breakfast but he wasn’t too happy with the egg in the big breakfast . Coffee& my chai latte was fine though.
Owners of this shop have employed the most pathetic staff I have ever encountered. I have travelled the world. First world to third world countries. This show was quite simply the worst customer service I have experienced in my 37 years of travelling. Disgruntled, grumpy poorly educated staff you would only employ if you wanted to strangle the life out of your own business.
Busy! Poor service. Have to get up and get own sandwich from counter. I asked for mayo and their response was ‘ sorry, we can’t, we haven’t taken it out of the fridge yet’. My baguette was dry on the outside and soggy on the inside from the old tomato. Not good. I didn’t really eat it. I should have gone with the breakfast dishes, they looked better!
