Such a great first experience at this place! Upon arrival, staff are quick to greet and take us to the table (I made a booking so that helped). Menu was easy to read, there is a lot of variety to choose from in terms of meat and other Korean dishes/soups. Meat was tender and the staff was attentive throughout the night and very hospitable. Definitely coming back next time 🙂

I’m torn. It’s great if you’re rich and willing to pay ~$50-70 (including soju) for a kbbq. For university students this isn’t really a feasible option.

    Ordered:
Woo Samgyeop: Beef Brisket ($23.00) x5
    Mansinchang Samgyeopsal: ($21.00)
Haemul Pajeon: Korean seafood pancake ($20.00)
    Kimchi Jjigae: Kimchi Stew ($16.00)
    Sunhari: Korean fruit-flavoured Soju ($15.00) x3
    Yeosan Tteokgalbi: Minced beef ($23.00)

    Review:
Their Woo Samgyeop (the first option) is absolutely amazing. Seasoned well with their Bornga special sauce and accompanied with a slide of vegetables, it’s actually unbelievable how good it is. Would highly highly recommend this.
In comparison, the other meat dish – Mansinchang Samgyeopsal – was okay. Paled in comparison to the glory that is the beef brisket.

Would definitely avoid the Haemul Pajeon/Sea food pancake. Unless you like that fluffy, souffle like consistency – it’s definitely not the usual. Was hoping for that classic crispy, crunchy batter with an overflowing sweetness of seafood but what we received was a fluff of disappointment.

Everything else is okay. Interior is absolutely gorgeous – themed Korean dynasty castle walls with a modern well lit twist. A great place to take friends if you can afford it, worthy of a celebration.
However, service was lacking. Towards the end of the meal, the table service bell became useless and we had to manually flag people down to get sauce refill or to order more Woo Samgyeop.

Make sure your whole table arrive if you want to be seated. You can definitely wait by yourself because it’s a no-booking basis. If your table isn’t there by the time they call your number, they’ll refuse to seat you. 🙁

Located in the heart of Chinatown, Bornga is an extremely popular kbbq joint. Its always packed with people by 8pm. We tried getting a seat last time and it was fully booked. Today we decided to go early at 5:30pm (opening time) and scored ourselves a table. It was quite empty but started filling up later on during the night. I really liked the environment of the restaurant. Its extremely spacious and the table for two is huge!! I love it! You can fit so much on the table which I like. They serve other dishes but we came solely to eat Korean bbq. We ordered a whole bunch of meats and what I recommend is ordering only the beef because both the pork meat was a bit bland and dry. The beef on the other hand was delicious, nicely marinated and great with the soybean paste.

What Korean restaurant would this be if they didnt give us sides. They were extremely generous with the sides and the waitress always asked if we wanted re-fill, free of charge. The waitress always came around to cook our meat which has its pros and con. Pro: we dont have to worry about doing it ourselves and can enjoy our meals free of any cooking. Cons: waitress disrupts conversation every 5 minutes and sometimes they dont come on time and you pretty much rely on them so you dont know if its cooked or not therefore you wait and it just ends up getting over cooked. I do like how they replace the grill as often as possible.

We also ordered the seafood pancake, which was mediocre. The portion size is huge and youll need a group of people to eat it.

Overall, is it the best Korean bbq Ive had? No not really. Its actually quite expensive. If youre looking for a cheap Korean bbq place, this place aint for you.
