Having walked past this place this morning i was tempted to try a pie, but I thought it was too early.

Walking around at lunchtime I ended up back here looking for a good pie to munch on.

Looking around I wasnt convinced but I was really looking forward to a nice pie.

Thats where it all went downhill. I ordered a chicken pie and a pepper steak pie. Unfortunately they were both dry as a bone, the ingredients that is. The filling was minimal and hard to find, and the pastry flaky but very very messy.

It really wasnt a good experience. You win some and you lose some I guess. But this place is anything but fair … dinkum in my mind!! lol

Un-Australian, calling yourself ‘dinkum’ and expecting you to pay for sauce. Considering the price you’d expect it included. Stock standard pie, I’ve had better from the freezer at Coles.

Consistency in fillings can a problem, but if youre a fan of traditional bake house pie options its a safe choice. Perhaps a little on the expensive side for what you get. Expect to pay extra for sauce, or if youre cheeky, grab one for free from Woolworths metro on Elizabeth street. Also expect a lot of filler and not much sausage in the sausage rolls.

In the Block Arcade we stopped off and had coffee, chai Latte & latte. There are so many cafs and so many people all squished in such narrow lanes. One of the photos on the wall shows what it used to look like before it was closed off to traffic. Hard to believe cars could actually get through!

This 4.0 rating can be validated purely by the service. I popped out for a quick 3.30pm coffee and snack and stumbled into this average place. The waitress offered me a party pie to snack on while she made my latte and then handed me a coffee double-cupped so I wouldn’t hurt my hands. The coffee, apple muffin and party pie were very homely and comforting. Nothing ground breaking or super on trend – just beautiful friendly service to an out of towner missing home.
