Perhaps a rice dish next time.
I was walking around the CBD to look for a halal restaurant and luckily found this one. The place isn’t very big but that’s okay since there were not many people inside.
I ordered Uyghur fried rice with lamb and vegetables. The portion is quite big and you might want to share it for two or bring the left over home. It smells and tastes good. I can taste the sweet soy sauce. The lamb was also nice, small cuts but they put a lot.
My friend ordered noodle with beef and vegetables -but I forgot the name. The noodle is very unique for me as they cut it shortly. It also tastes good, chewy, a bit sour, and yummy.
Overall my visit was positive and I might come again someday
Terrific casual cafe restaurant. I had a very tasty and satisfying meal here.
The name of the restaurant is intriguing so I did some research. Dolan refers to a people or region of what is now the Xinjiang province of China. The Uyghurs or Uygurs are a Turkic ethnicity who live primarily in the Xinjiang province where they are one of fifty-five officially recognized ethnic minorities. Uyghurs primarily practice Islam. Like many populations of Central Eurasia, they are closely related to both European and East Asian populations.
As suggested above, this is a relaxed and casual cafe restaurant. Theres nice decorative touches around the walls. Curtains, a hanging carpet, pictures and ornaments all presumably celebrating the Dolan Uyghurs and their art and culture.
Today, I tried stir fried mushroom with lamb and capsicum. The dish arrived at the table all hot and steaming. It tasted good with a nice dose of chili. I found it a beautifully balanced heat. Overall, this was really enjoyable dish and an impressively large serve.
Im glad I stopped here. This is a good place complete with nice service. I would happily return anytime.
ATTENTION LAMB LOVERS!
Anyone who loves cumin spiced lamb skewers, this is one place you must not miss. For me this unassuming restaurant located in one of the laneways serves up the most delicious lamb skewers in the City. $12 for 4 skewers thats pretty reasonable. Plus portion size for their other dishes (noodles dishes) are huge too. Dont expect anything from the ambience it is not one of the most attractive restaurants. Having said that no alcohol is also served as they operate as a Halal restaurant. all good for me.. i just wanna put that lamb on their fork!
Yes/no? Yesssss
The photo below is of the exotic lamb skewers, honestly I dont know what they put on these and how they look them but they were amazing!!!!
Mind you, these were reheated and I still couldnt fault these. They were the perfect texture and the flavours were so addictive. Loved every bite
Me and my friends wanted a quick and easy meal before going to the movies. This was my first time here and I would certainly be back. No its not fancy and no you cant have alcohol but that doesnt matter, the food is super tasty!
