Really enjoyed dining at Mansae for Korean food. The space is extremely clean and spacious. The ventilation in the restaurant is great as I appreciated not leaving smelling like meat.
The meat was delicious and tasted fresh. Was happy with the condiments served with my meals. Also had the kimchi stew and seafood pancake. Can’t wait to return back for more Korean food.
The service was average as we sometimes needed to wait a little longer than usual for service.

We ordered for 3 people:
Entree: Tteokkochi, corn cheese
Side: Rice, kimchi jjigae
Meat: Wagyu scotch filet, prime pork belly
Drink: Lychee soju cocktail jug (1 jug Id recommend for 2-3 people)
The meat was sooo tender and juicy. The soy marinated scotch filet was cooked perfectly. Banchan as free refills as well! Kimchi was perfectly fermented, not too spicy, not too sour.
5% discount for cash payments which is good to see in a restaurant. Would highly recommend and would love to come back again.

late review but last weekend a friend held a birthday dinner at mansae and let’s just say that it one fantastic dinner!! When we arrived, the staff were very friendly, I had come a bit after the others so they directed me to the reserved table.

We ordered quite a bit as there were about 12 of us for dinner and all had big appetites!!

Over the food was as great however with the corn cheese I felt out of the two we ordered one of it had little cheese and more mayo that the consistency was just a bit runny but it was still good. With the food we had also ordered some soju and beers to pair.
Service:
Service wise, the team at Mansae that night was spot on! With a large group they were able to cater to us and help us when we asked them questions about certain foods as a friend was vegan and another had food allergies. They were able to help us with those requests. Not only did they cater to the food requirements, as it was a birthday dinner the staff also helped us by storing the cake away as we had dinner and when it was time they lit the candles and played the birthday song. TALK ABOUT GREAT SERVICE RIGHT??
New KBBQ spot in Melbourne located opposite HWKR centre, it boasts high ceilings and plenty of space between tables. That didn’t help us from wearing the smell however, there is no ventilation tubes here.
We got a couple of soju bomb kits throughout the night to keep us intoxicated, nothing much to say about that, it’s just soju and Korean beer.
To start we got some corn cheese, it’s pretty basic but it’s a popular Korean side. Sweet corn, stringy cheese. We also got a stew of kimchi jjigae which also had pork belly and tofu squares, it was decent but I would have enjoyed their sundubu jjigae much more with the soft tofu. Their banchan spread consisted of some funky kimchi and spring onion salad which I thought was bland and required more seasonings. There were a few others but I won’t go into them.
For the main event we got the butcher’s board, there was 5 of us (all male) and this was meant to feed 4. We were adequately full from everything we ordered. The board is impressive and mostly consisting of wagyu cuts with beautiful ripples of fat. We start off with the 3 plain wagyu cuts, short rib, oyster blade and cube roll. Meat was really juicy and flavourful, especially the fatty parts. The waitresses/waiters we had that night were really attentive and the meat was cooked perfectly, we didn’t turn the meat once. The best accompaniment from what you are given is the sesame oil and salt (I had to ask for more salt as there wasn’t enough), there’s no better seasoning to beef than salt.
Their two galbi meats were also stellar, well marinated and not overly sweet as it sometimes can be. The meat was really tender also, so much so I could eat it off the bone. That’s saying a lot, of all the KBBQ places I’ve been the meat around the bone is always discarded as it’s too tough.
The meat they use here is of great quality and the service was spot on. What can be improved on is the usage of charcoal, I think a lot of people underestimate the flavour charcoal imparts on meat. I do feel slightly sad that we are eating wagyu cooked using gas cylinders, it was still delicious despite the absence.
I get so excited when a new korean bbq place opens so visiting Mansae was a must! The quality of meat was A+! The price was a bit on the high side for korean bbq though
Tried this new KBBQ place on Abeckett Street. Not really sure what to expect. We ordered corn cheese & happiness set. The corn cheese was good, well, you cant go wrong with it. The marinated wagyu cube roll was really good, it was tender and juicy. The others were just average. For $80, I think it was a bit overpriced. Maybe Id order the wagyu cube roll without set next time.
Very lovely place for Korean BBQ. Staff always serve with a smile. Cuts of meat were superb. Not a lot of seating and often can get quite Smokey because of lake of air vents.
