We came here but didnt order any wagyu BBQ. We ordered chicken, wagyu on rice and scallops. We found it on the pricer side, and the entree scallops were smaller than expected from picture. Everything was very tasty, although throughout the meal we were attacked literally by smoke from the back and no one did anything about it.

Bottom line: Dont think we will come here again unless we really wanna try wagyu BBQ.

Wagyu Ya has been my go-to BBQ place and tbh I rarely try new places as Im afraid it wont worth it. Same with Niku Ou, I came in with a lot of doubts.
I ordered my favorites in Wagyu Ya: yukke & scampi. The yukke is just as good as the one in Wagyu ya. Youll miss out a lot if youre afraid of eating raw beef. But the winning dish has to be scampi! They literally melted in my mouth. I also found another favorite here at: the aburi foie gras wagyu nigiri. Im sold! That wagyu was so soft and the foie gras just completed a whole bite with its richness & fattiness.
For BBQ, I have the A5 Hida-gyu: short ribs, tri-tip, chunk roll, oyster blade slice and oyster blade steak. All of them are amazing but dont be afraid to ask the staffs if you arent sure which one fits your personal taste as every cut is very different in texture and its fat percentage.
I love the relaxing and quiet ambience in Niku Ou. Friendly service & nice cocktail (I got the Cucu Melon, super refreshing taste!).
Highly recommend the place and would go back for the aburi foie gras wagyu nigiri (lmao)

Sister restaurant of Wagyu Ya, sorry guys but tbh just head to the South Yarra its much better. The foie gras + truffle rice bowl was good, serving is a little small though. Expect to spend about $200 for two easily! The wagyu sushi was not great for $20 for two pieces. Dont waste your money on those!!!
