A friend introduced me to this place for a quick bite to eat before a concert.

You order by filling out the order pad is on the table and you write what you want on the docket (all items are numbered in the menu, including the types of beer).

We both ordered the chicken schnitzel with the curry sauce and rice and a couple of beers.

The meal was delivered very quickly, the curry sauce nice, not too sweet like a Japanese curry might be. It included a piece of potato and a carrot and the chicken was tender and super crunchy.

For a quick meal it was cheap and cheerful and most importantly edible.

    Ordered:
    Stone bowl beef bibimbap $14.8

    Review:
The interior of oppas kitchen is clean and modern with popular KPOP songs playing in the back ground its a great and trendy place to catch up with your friends. The staff and service were all nice and friendly. I ordered the stone bowl beef bibimbap with was notably more expensive than the normal bowls which is understandable. The bowl was hot and sizzling when it was served and the ratio of rice and vegetables were kind of inaccurate being vegetables were a bit more than rice. What I didnt like was how it was kind of soupy at the bottom of the bimbimap? Like the rice was kind of soggy and over cooked. I love how they give you a convenient gochuchang (red pepper Korean sauce) to squeeze into your rice. Over all a good experience without having to spend too much minus the soggy rice.

    Bustling korean eats on Swanston.

Ambience: The place is quite nice, there are two floors and despite not being spacious it didn’t feel crampy. It’s very neon-y and youngsters vibe, with kpop songs playing in the bg.

Service: Staffs were nice, my friend’s dosirak came out reasonably fast, though mine took a while, but still reasonable.

Food: Pork belly meal bucket (dosirak) was pretty good. Meat was juicy and flavourful but can be more generous to accompany the generous serving of rice. There were also some salad and croquette on the side which were nice.

Dwaeji gukbab (pork soup) was decent. Flavor wise it’s pretty good, but meat was pretty scanty, and were mostly the fat part of the pork, so that was a bit disappointing, it was served with some condiments (less than gukbab) and kimchi which was nice.

Fried chicken was decent, they were still juicy and crispy though both aspects could be elevated as the batter was a tad bit hard and meat tad bit dry. The sauce was decent too, though sweeter than i’d like, spiciness was just nice. I liked the rice cake and potato wedges that came with it as they added extra texture to the dish, daikon were refreshing, though slaw was bit dry.

Price: reasonable price for the quality and quantity, except the pork soup.

    YUM: pork belly dosirak
    NAH: none

Love their meal bucket especially pork belly. The meat is tender and grilled perfectly. Just write down what you want to order on the paper provided. . . . .

The interior decor was definitely a stand out and was what made me want to try dining here. I ordered the beef bulgogi and disappointingly it tasted quite average. Overall, don’t think I’d be coming back.
