    Family style korean eatery. (3.5)

Ambience: The place was spacious with lots of seatings. It is mostly crowded at meal times, so on weekends a wait is probably to be expected. It’s not crampy and the design was pretty nice and sleek, well kept too, good for large groups.

Service: When we arrived there was no one at the front counter so we had to wait before being seated. We were seated at a pretty inconvenient area where the staffs cant really see us thus it was hard to call them, i wish they have a bell or something. Food took a reasonable time though.

Food: Beef bulgogi was pretty massive, the largest portion i’ve seen probably, but again the price reflects that. It was just how a beef bulgogi should be, great beef texture and flavors with good amount of vegs.

Cheese chilli chicken was great too. The flavor was there, meaning it was not the unmarinated chicken, again big portion, and the cheese was melty and good amount. Not too spicy too.

Side dishes were good as well, there were kimchi, beansprouts, potatoes and fishcakes. All were up to standard.

Beef bibimbap was good too, portion and taste wise (they serve two sauces with it: sesame oil and chilli paste), the toppings were pretty good amount and they mix well. Also came with a mushroom and seaweed miso soup which was nice.

Lastly though I didn’t really enjoy the yukgaejang, firstly because it was not served in a hot stone bowl like all other korean restaurants do it, and also because the flavor just wasn’t quite there, tasted bit bland and sourish. Portion wise it was good but the meat can be more generous.

Price: Bit more expensive but again good portion.

YUM: beef bulgogi and cheese chilli chicken
    NAH: none

photos: beef bulgogi, cheese chilli chicken, yuk gae jang,
    Beef bibimbap.

Haven’t been back for a while, the chicken cover in melted cheese are still my old time favourite, but sadly it doesn’t take long for it to get cold the seafood hot pot was bit too spicy for my liking and a lot of the dishes are too hot for me some of the dishes have been modified for the local market but I still prefer the traditional Korean food it once served

Ive come here a few times in the past few years. Thanks to the size of the place, the ambience is quite comfortable. But when it comes to the quality of the food, its a bit of a hit-and-miss really. Some dishes are delicious while some others dont quite hit the standard Korean classics. Especially the kimchi side dish in my opinion, I think its the worst tasting one in the city. That being said, Id come here for the hot soups and the kimchi stew. I did find the raspberry makgeolli cocktail absolutely delicious though – perfect for sharing and a great drink for summer. This restaurant is ideal for large groups as well, but make sure to book a table as there may not be available tables at times. Service is prompt, staff are efficient (but not all are friendly). **NOTE: No split bills. No card payment under $25. Paypass & credit card surcharge 1.5%. Amex card accepted.

The classic, safe korean comfort food, Oriental spoon will satisfy your korean cravings and above! Went here for 6:30pm dinner a few weeks ago.

Comes with side dishes: 2 full bowls of rice + 4 side dishes (kimchi, bean sprout, cucumber…etc)

Ordered: Beef stone bowl bibimbap ($17.50), Cheese buldak ($23) , Seafood miso soup clay pot ($17.90)

    Good:
    – affordable
    – lots and lots of generous side dishes and the full bowl of rice are complementary and can make you full! Seaweed soup came with bibimbap was nice too!
    – Got seats instantly, nice 1:1 comfortable seating; it is both private but casual seating 🙂
    – food came reasonably quick; warm friendly staff;
    – very neat, clean interior
    – dont like seafood but the claypot was nice and didnt have fishy taste at all

    Not good:
    – not necessarily bad thing but, cheese bul dak has extremely spicy chilly paste but we didnt find it spicy? (I am medium with spice)

overall, gonna come back for lunch or dinner or anytime for safe korean option 🙂

Pretty good Korean bbq at this place. The meat is flavorful and tastes good. The bibimbap is nice here too. Only downside after a Korean bbq is that your clothes and you smell so bad after dinner lol.

The first ever Korean restaurant Ive been to in Melbourne, and after all these years it remains one of the best. Spacious, good ventilation (youll know why this is important when you order the bbq stuff!) and friendly staff. And the food is homey and hearty and sooo good

  • Eat. Sleep. Create. Repeat.

Always come here whenever were around Melbourne Central and have no idea about what to eat. Their food is not quite unique as there are more and more Korean Restaurants around but its always above average. We were happy to spend 2 hours in a comfy venue with a Hotpot like this plus the fruit Soju.
