A spacious, well ventilated korean bbq restaurant with informstive and attentive staff. A generous variety of side dishes and the kimchi soup is spicy whereas the seaweed soup is refreshing. Meat wise, fresh, well cut and tender.
The mango rice wine is sweet and well mixed. A great option for those who enjoy a sweet alcoholic drink. Pricey for whats given but the side dishes are quite generous.
Paiks BBQ is a Korean BBQ restaurant that opened around a month ago. They are located at 525 Little Londsdale Street in the city between King and Williams Sts, near Flagstaff station. It is popular area for Korean restaurants but this is definitely the one to go to!
We were welcomed in by the very friendly and helpful staff and shown to our table in the back area where we were given menus straight away. We ordered the Woo Samgyeep Dolsot Bibimlxip which was a delightful dish with tender beef and tasty vegetables.
There was a self-serve BBQ on our table which I found very exciting and different! We ordered the Eye Fillet tenders and another cut of beef and cooked it ourselves (with the help of the waitresss). The Eye Fillet was beautiful! Extremely flavoursome and surprisingly cooked very well!
The various condiments including the pickled vegetables and range of sauces were all great accompaniments to the meal. All deliciously prepared and full of flavour.
For drinks we had the Orange Beer-Rita which had a very unique presentation (see photo). Its a very strong drink – just the way we like it!
Overall, we were impressed with our whole experience the delicious food, the quick, friendly service, the buzzing atmosphere and have no hesitation in highly recommending!
Paik’s BBQ has made it to our list of top Korean restaurants in Melbourne. Having been to Korea many times and being familiar with their cuisine, we feel they clearly have brought the authentic taste over here.
We got to try the pork bulgogi, wagyu for the BBQ. There were both amazing. The sauce in the pork bulgogi was very tasty. The wagyu was also definitely high quality meat. The pork kimchi soup came with rice and dried seaweed, also another great dish. The beef bibimbap came in a hot bowl, where eggs were poured over at the table, which gives it a bit of a wow factor. Definitely another great dish.
The overall vibes of the place give a feeling as if you were dining in Korea. The staff was very friendly as well. Food was served really really fast, we were so surprised how quick they were able to serve the food, considering how busy it was. There are a few Korean restaurants in the area, but this place is definitely one of the best ones.
steamed eggs, bimbimbap, pork neck, beef rib & marinated beef skirt was all great. the side dishes were really good too.
will definitely be back!
Rare charcoal bbq place! Good meat quality, friendly and helpful staff who will cook the meat and make sure the meat is perfect to taste. I like their beef more than pork, more juicy and tender especially their marinated ones. They have macaroni salad as one of the complimentary small dishes! Recommend!
After hearing about this new Korean BBQ joint opening up in Melbourne CBD (thats really popular in Korea), I could not wait to check it out. We arrived just after 5pm and there were already a few people lining up (it opens at 5:30pm). Luckily we were seated immediately and we even got a large table for just the 3 of us, which made dining very comfortable.
The menu isnt huge, but theres a lot of great cuts of meat and tasty traditional Korean dishes to choose from. Our waiter was extremely friendly and gave us recommendations on what to order from the menu. The meat quality is superb!
The famous Yeoltan Bulgogi was my favourite – that spicy sauce was delicious! Hangjeongsal, The Back Neck of Pork, was also very tasty and flavourful! We also got the classic Samgyeopsal, Pork Belly, which you can never go wrong with!
For dishes, we had to try their famous Kimchi Stew, which was so rich and flavourful! Paired with the rice and topped with as much seaweed as you want – youve got the perfect heartwarming meal for a cold night! The Dolsot Bibimbap is definitely one of the best bibimbaps weve had in Melbourne – the egg is poured into the hotstone pot and the rice gets a really nice char at the bottom. Also, you MUST try the Cheese Gyeran Jjim, Steamed Eggs with Cheese – so so yummy and the cheese isnt too heavy, and it pairs so well with all the rice and meat!
For drinks, make sure you try their Beer-Rita! The peach one is insanely good!
After our meal, we didnt find our clothes to be smokey at all! Service was fantastic and extremely fast. Would definitely recommend trying this place!
This newly-opened Korean-BBQ restaurant is yet another branch by the famous Korean chef Paik Jong Won. I saw a huge queue waiting to eat here when it first opened so I chose to wait to try it out when the hype died down. Interestingly enough, I didnt find the quality of food as good as his other branches in the city. First of all, there arent many side dishes and the portion of salads is small. Secondly, the staff were not attentive so our meat got burnt. We ended up having to flip our own meats the second and third time around. Thirdly, the meat was on the salty side. (Hence, we needed them salads!) Overall, a very mediocre place. The atmosphere is noisy, especially if you get a seat next to the kitchen. Of course theres ventilation, but expect to smell like Korean-BBQ when you leave. The price of meat is quite expensive for the amount you actually get. Would I come back here? Probably not seeing as theres nothing that special about this BBQ restaurant and there are better ones nearby.
