My friends and I had dinner reservations downstairs at Cheek, we had to wait for the table to be available. We were invited upstairs at Peaches to have a drink until the table was ready. I am really glad they did as the bar on the rooftop is really cool. The vibe is great, we ordered a drink off the specials board, all proceeds going to the bushfire appeal. The cocktail was gin based and so refreshing!A great bar that I would gladly return to.
This place was probably really nice when it first opened, but it’s quite run down already, and is really VERY dirty. It looks like it hasn’t been cleaned for days, if not weeks: not something you really want from a place that serves food in particular. Having said that, the selection of drinks and cocktails are good, the staff are friendly, and (probably because of the state of the place) it’s relatively quiet for a place in the city, which is a bonus.
As we had to wait for a group to finish up at Cheek before we could get our table, we were directed to Peaches for a drink. Comprising of two levels – the first one with a gorgeous pastel pink retro vibe, and the second a buzzing rooftop bar, Peaches is sure to suit everyone.Lovely and prompt service from the bartender, and they currently have a special cocktail called This is a Koala Rescue whereby 100% of the proceeds from the sale of said cocktail goes to the Port Macquarie Koala Hospital. It’s a beautiful gin-based cocktail that’s light on the palate and very pleasant to drink, with hints of grapefruit and thyme. As with most bars, there are a variety of bar snacks and small bites for those who are peckish. Would definitely be returning here.
4.0 Very GoodWhen I was dining at Cheek I saw quite a few people walk up for drinks at Peaches, a bit of research and I was sold, hot chicken sandwiches and an open rooftop with drinks! With a team that handles meat right it was a no brainer. We went during lunch and it was relatively quiet as most uni students were on break, they’ve got indoor dining (themed beautifully in peach) and the rooftop space to soak in the sun (or moonlight). It was a particularly hot day and I opted for a cheeky (no pun intended) beverage, they had their Bushfire Relief cocktail which consisted of Applewood gin and limoncello (donated), Capi soda (donated) together with grapefruit and thyme. Very refreshing, slightly tart and didn’t cost an arm and a leg like most cocktails do. All proceeds went to Port Macquarie Koala Hospital. They had various meat between buns but I couldn’t pass up their fried chicken burger, especially when they emphasise “world famous”. It’s simple but perfectly executed, very juicy chicken thigh piece and the skin on it has a slight crispness to it. Some nice pickles, yuzu kosho mayo and a soft buttery bun, I’m salivating just typing this. Also paired the burger with some nice french fries similar to Mcdonald’s ones (I love them equally).Very chill spot especially when it’s less crowded, I can imagine a much younger crowd during uni season and evenings. They also have nights where they discount the food and it’d cost you next to nothing along with very affordable booze.
