Great skewers hotpot in the town! You pick as much as skewers that you need to put in your soup base. We ordered mushroom and spicy soup bases. Both soup are really good. Skewers options are varies from meat, seafood and veggies. Also, some ingredients are on plate as well with different prices. Overall really good experience!

A unique take on hot pot cuisine, QiPo Skewer Bar makes the experience of cooking raw meats and vegetables fun by sticking them on skewers! From the menu, choose your flavour of hot boiling soup (you can also go half-half if you can’t decide on just one flavour), then head up to the fridges at the end of the room and pick as many skewers as you would like (payment is by weight). Their variety of starters/sides and Asian-style drinks is also innovative, and suits the style of dining. If you like spicy, definitely go for their spicy soup (or, half spicy half non-spicy), but be wary that it is extremely spicy!! The raw foods cook quite quickly in the boiling soup, and it’s a fun way to dine out with friends.

3.5 GoodWe came here during lunch and it was very quiet. We only ever saw one waitress and she was at times quite busy fulfilling her duties. The space is well decorated and very casual. For beverage I got their lychee drink which I suspect is a fizzy lemonade mixed with some lychee and syrup. It’s what you’d expect it to taste like really and quite refreshing. We also shared some fried rice, there’s not much to say about this. It’s your cookie cutter fried rice which was made well, you could feel each individual grain and had a bit of bite to it.We got a huge bucket of random skewered goods (all selected by the kitchen) which were already cooked and swimming in chilli oil (moderately spicy). It was kind of fun seeing what would randomly come up once we pulled the item to the surface. Favourites were bamboo shoots, chicken balls and Chinese mushrooms. We realised that there was a sauce station if you wanted to mix things up ($3pp) but I felt that was more for the hotpot experience. We polished off with some fried rice cakes in brown sugar and a dusting of peanut. This was amazing! Nice and gummy with an addictive sweetness, reminds me a bit like brown sugar milk with the pearls. While there are loads of malatang and hot pot restaurants out there I still remain skeptical as to the role of the skewers other than pure convenience. I believe that not all items are skewered but a lot of it is and I feel it’s wasteful especially if there’s only one tiny item on it. Curious to see how their hotpot operation works.
