  Seorae Galmaegi is a Korean BBQ restaurant that recently opened at QV Melbourne. Established in South Korea in 2007, its signature dish is pork skirt meat.

  We visited on a Sunday evening and were warmly greeted. Diners can opt to have KBBQ or order something else from the menu. We went for the KBBQ and ordered the pork skirt meat set, a chicken set, vegetables and a side of rice. Along with our order we received banchan, dipping sauce and egg which cooks in a separate section of the grill.

  This was my first time trying pork skirt meat, it was tender, juicy and full of flavour and I would order this again. The chicken and vegetables were also enjoyable although the highlight for me was the pork skirt meat. Egg is poured into a separate section of the grill as soon as the grill is set up by the staff. We waited for the egg to set so it was nice and fluffy and it complimented our meal nicely.

  Overall I enjoyed Seorae Galmaegi, staff were friendly and helpful and the food was delicious. The only thing I wish that was different was that the menu combined cuts of meat as the sets only included one type of meat such as pork or beef.

  I rate Seorae Galmaegi out of 5.

  A new kbbq opened in the QV area. This place was made famous by appearing in a Korean drama. The food quality was alright but it’s slightly over priced for what it is. There are many good kbbq around and I don’t think it’s competitive enough. Their premium pork skirt set is pretty good but I still think they need to give more flexibility with the menu or having a mix and match meat options.

  I was excited to try this new KBBQ joint in the CBD – Id been waiting for it to open for a while now. The venue is very clean, modern and spacious, with a dark, romantic ambience and a nice theme of rose gold.

  We went for the Beef Set for two, which came with a mini hot pot, 4 side dishes, rice and salad; along with a seafood pancake. The beef set arrived quickly and they immediately began cooking the meat on the grill. No explanation was given for each type of meat so we just ate what we were given – there were a lot of different cuts but overall they were all pretty decent! The seafood pancake was very delicious, and nice and crispy. We had to refill our dipping sauce though as it was quite scarce!

  The staff were sometimes preoccupied (given it was a Friday night) so we did a lot of the cooking ourselves so the meat wouldnt burn. But they were all very nice and friendly.

  Overall, I had a nice kbbq experience at Seorae. After our meal, we didnt have any trace of kbbq smell on our clothes which was really good. Its a place worth checking out. Next time I come here, Im definitely getting the watermelon soju!

  We came here for dinner. Warm lighting, upbeat korean music.

  Well ventilated, cooling and friendly staff.

  Pork and beef meats, sets, kfc and dishes available.

  Charcoal grill and we ordered the pork skirt meat as the seorae style pork belly was unavailable and beef set that comes with a mini hot pot, 4 sides and side dishes which were quite scarce, salad mix and rice.

  Pork meat was minimal lightly marinated, somewhat dry.

  Liquid cheese was poured on the side of the plate and was kind of watery.

  The beef was average and dry. The staff kept changing the plates but at the same time in the process, they kept taking the meats off that weren’t done yet.
