    Atmosphere: 5 star
Hidden in Market Lane near Chinatown, Shoya is a quiet and cosy place to dinner with friends. There are several floors in Shoya and each one provides customers with different atmosphere, either close to each other chatting or close to sushi bar near the chef. I really like sitting beside sushi bar, watching the chef preparing cuisine and talk with him about the food. The middle aged chef, also as the owner, have worked here for over 15 years and making magics.

    Food: 4 star
The Sashimi is worth trying, providing a wide range and fresh flavor. Depending on the quality of food, the chef and waiters will tell customers what to be ordered. I really love sashimi set in ice ball, full of beauty and good at temperature. But the species is really limited in the set. If you choose the sashimi set over 70 dollars, you will be surprised at the variety and freshness of fish, shell, prawn and sea urchin.

Sushi is not as good as sashimi. The temperature of sushi rice is not warm enough. The adhesion between fish and rice is really weak. Just a simple movement could make them separate from each other. The flavor is not well balanced and cooperated.

The steamed egg with crab is really yummy.
The deep fried tofu is just so so. I really dont recommend this one.

Wasabi is ground, really fresh and mild. It is rather better than the one in tubes

What a nice way to celebrate an early Fathers Day! We booked shoya two days in advance in order to reserve a seat during the busy weekend.
    Ordered:
    Ume lunch set $32
    Business lunch $65
    Shoya lunch set $28
The interior is dark but lit with very warm lights which makes the dining experience a lot more fancier. Lunch sets were a good value for money and filled us to the brink every dish was excuted nicely, but I found that the steak that I had (teriyaki steak from the UME SET) was very tough. The sashimi from the business set was firm and cut slightly thicker than the ones included in the shoya set and the Ume set. I wouldnt really recommend the business set because it is awfully more expensive than the other set lunches but the quality and dishes that were included didnt really live up to our expectations. Everything was similar except it was displayed in a more delicate manner. Another thing to state is the small pieces of truffle that were shaved on to the steak, it was way too young and had no marbling on them yet which resulted in a much more mild truffle flavour.

Service: very attentive but it was incredibly hard to catch their attention because we were seated in a corner + it was very busy, hence the fact that there were only two waitresses running round trying to please everyone. But there were instances where they made little mistakes like how they forgot to give my mum soy sauce for her sashimi but it was a very busy day.
