One of the most inexpensive Michelin Star restaurants? Count me in!
Ive always wanted to try Tim Ho Wan, the moment it opened in Melbourne but never really gotten the chance. Its located on Bourke Street and theres always a line on the weekends. We lined up for a couple of minute. It doesnt look like your traditional yumcha restaurants. It reminded me McDonalds or something. The tables were so close together and I could literally hear the persons next to me. Anyways, whilst lining up they give you a little board with what you want to order and you write the quantities.
The menu was extremely limited compared to a traditional yumcha restaurant. The food itself taste a lot more different. A very modern intake. I enjoyed the seafood shiu mai. The egg tart was nice was well. I wasnt the biggest fan of the ribs and the sauce to the vermicelli roll with shrimp was quite bland. The shrimp dumplings was enjoyable and prawn dumplings were quite mediocre.
Overall, you cant really go wrong with yumcha. I enjoyed how fast pace this place is. We didnt really wait between dishes which I liked. Would I think its Michelin star quality, Im not quite sure however it would probably be a lot more better overseas.
