  I’m sorry to have to do this without eating here however I have just walked out of this restaurant due to the horrible demeaning customer service. I have lived in Melbourne for 9 years and frequent many Asian restaurants, having tried and enjoyed every cuisine. However from the moment my husband and myself, both of Indian origin walked into Xiao longkan we were talked down to as if we had no idea what hot pot was. There is a difference in education someone and just being racist. From asking us constantly if we were sure we wanted to eat there, telling us we should see the menu with the prices and even after being seated being told how to read a menu and that if we eat beef it was all very hurtful. When I expressed my disconcern they were most happy to let us leave and continue to only serve customers from Asian backgrounds. Truly a horrible experience.

  One of the best hotpot places I’ve been to. I’m not very tolerant of spicy food so we got the least spicy with a tomato & beef broth and mala broth. The mala broth was still really spicy to me but my friends enjoyed it. I love the tomato broth because of the sweetness from the tomatoes that infuses the beef when you dip them in.One of my favourite ingredients was the wagyu beef. It was so satisfying! I could eat multiple bowls of just that! We also ordered lamb slices, crystal beef, sliced beef rolls and duck intestines that came in an ice bowl!The place might be a little hard to find since it’s in an alley. The interior was very spacious and had lots of sitting. Was brightly lit as well.
