Amazing hidden gem with fantastic food and service!

We came here for a Saturday night dinner together after feeling for some Turkish food, we decided to try here based on the rating and it being so close by yet never something we had looked at before. We called up Saturday arvo to see if there were any tables for later that night but to our surprise it was booked out but the young waiter who answered our call, asked if we would want a call back if a table freed up and so we put our name and number down and about 20mins later we got a call so we went straight there.

When we got to the little strip of shops, it was actually hard to see the venue at first glance as its hidden quite well amongst the shops, we opened the door and was not expecting the full crowd of people inside. This place is clearly a family style restaurant and not for your average couple dinners like we had initially expected but we were still keen to have gotten a table last minute so we sat down even though it was pretty loud and rowdy. We later came to understand that this is the style and vibe of the place which really adds to the whole Turkish family restaurant dinning and it’s not bad, was just a little confronting at the start, walking into a full, very loud restaurant.

We ordered the mixed grill banquet which gave us 5 dips, Turkish bread, mixed chicken and lamb donner and shish kebabs served with rice and salad as well as a choice of dessert including baklava or Turkish delight with coffee or tea.

The 5 dips were excellent, fresh and full of flavour! The bread was hot and fluffy and perfect to dip with, we were even offered more complimentary bread when we finished and we obliged but we were nervous we would fill up on the bread. The mixed grill was cooked amazingly, the meat was juicy and flavoursome, not dry! The food was amazing!

For dessert the young waiter also offered us complimentary desserts as we were only allowed to pick one, but he served us both baklava and Turkish delight with a Turkish coffee which was a really nice touch at the end of the night. The service here was great from start to finish as the waiter took care of us all night and was very pleasant at every exchange. We decided to personally tip the waiter $20 for his hard work and great service.

Highly recommend this place, if it’s local to you, the please stop in and try it out. Best to come with a big group of friends or family, we will be coming back with a group soon.

What a great little find. Service is friendly. Food is yummy. Authentic (we are basing this judgement on the clientele). Bill was cheap. We will be back.

Meh! The dips were ordinary and the meat tasted like rather bland sausage meat. Salad had no dressing and overall the meals looked better than they tasted. The service was quick and it’s very cheap but we were all under impressed with the quality.

Went on Saturday night, table of 11 for a birthday. Restaurant wasn’t its usual busy self. Service was deplorable. Half the guest got their food while the half where waiting half an hour. Server wasn’t interested at all!

Guzel Istanbul does not look much from the outside, nor the inside for that matter, but do not let that put you off. If you are after delicious traditional Turkish food then you will not be disappointed! Guzel is also BYO.

Old fashion Turkish restaurant, looks like family business, interior nothing flash, service ok, served by a very nice young man, probably a family member, if so good to see better helping the family then on the street like a lot of kids.
Food ok, have had better but all in all good and would go back again.
Forget the reviews, if you want fine dining then this is not for you.
If snobs want fine dining stop winging and pay for it. Simple

Not the best place to eat out, really greasy and not authentic. Salad were very soggy and bland. And restaurant is really outdated and old.
