The four of us had the 3 course menu with different variations. Peking duck pancake and San choy bow starter were good. Duck was pretty generous, the wrapper was bit different to what I usually have but tasted homemade. Tried a few steamed sims too and went back for round 2 as they were very good! Nice and meaty, not overly salty, in a delicate wrapper. Regular commercial ones have a pretty thick doughy wrapper and filled with more cabbage than meat. These were made at the restaurant, the super friendly manager came round to tell us when he noticed we’d ordered seconds.
The seafood combination main was a highlight. Generous serve of sizeable prawns, scallops, squid, fish and great variety of veg – bokchoy, mushrooms, Chinese cabbage, broccoli, carrots, water chestnut.
For $33/head including a yummy fried ice cream finisher, can’t fault it! We even had leftovers that they packed up for us to take home.

Not a good new years eve 2014. I spent $64 on takeaway for our at home new years eve. All I can say was it was the most disappointing meal for a long time. Prawn Crackers stale, Honey Chicken tasted like soggy paper balls, Beef and Blackbean – ok, Curry beef ordinary, Special Fried Rice – fail, spring rolls ok. For a nice looking restaurant it failed to deliver.

King Yuen? More like king of disappointment. I went to King Yuen’s with some friends a few days ago. When we got to the restaurant is it was basically empty so we though our food would come out in a reasonable time frame. This was not the case. Not only did we wait over 1 hour and 20 minutes, people who were seated 30 minutes after us got their food first. Because we were a table of young people, we were pushed down the priority track because the staff were more concerned with serving the older, higher spending, customers first. Now, I know that sometimes restaurants can take a while to get meals out because they want to make sure It’s perfect and well cooked. What we waited over and hour for was basically food court food. Beyond disappointing. The food quality was too low for the exorbitant price tag placed on it. If anyone thinks this is authentic Chinese food, they have never been to a good Chinese restaurant before. I ordered some crappy food from a food court the next day that was more satisfying to eat. I’m not a hard person to please, I have been to some very dingy restaurants and not had a single complaint. I just felt mistreated at King Yuens. Kind of like we weren’t important enough to get our food in the correct order that we were served in. Also, the people who were seated after us finished their meals before ours came out. Cmon, King Yuen. You have a beautiful restaurant with nice atmosphere and a great location, maybe put a little more effort in to your food and priorities.

Consistently the best Chinese Food in Melbourne!. I have been going to this restaurant for 20 years, and the food is amazing, every time.
The staff are wonderful as well. It is really hard to find traditional Chinese restaurants these days….but this is by the far the best.
